I presume 'R 3.7.0' is R-devel: it is not released and may never be
released under that version.

RGL package installation problem on Centos
Dear R users,
I have installed the latest version of R from source on Centos (using
configure and make install).
This seemed to work fine, with no Errors reported and R at the command line
starts R.
However, if I try and installed the package rgl using;
install.packages("rgl")
I get the following error;

fontconfig-2.1.93 considered more harmful
There is an ongoing thread "fontconfig-2.1.92 considered harmful" on -CURRENT.
Because I have not moved to -CURRENT, I post this to -STABLE.
Since I upgraded to fontconfig-2.1.93 (on Apr 14) a lot of ports start to
complain a lot of "Cannot fork: Resource temporarily unavailable" errors.
What resource ? I inserted top into my ports build script to notice that

snow leopard, freetype installed but not being found?
Hi, I'm trying to build and use WINE on an OSX Snow Leopard machine. I build WINE yesterday, but didn't realise libfreetype was a problem (unable to find library) until I started ding WINE things. So I downloaded it from freetype.org and built/installed it into /usr/local/lib, but I still get the errors.
I decide to rebuild WINE and ran ./configure to find that it couldn't find

Best way for rgl's .onLoad to fail?
On OSX and Linux, the rgl package currently requires X11 libs to be
available for linking. Recent versions of OSX don't include them by
default, so I'd like rgl to fail nicely.
Ideally, it will load a library that doesn't need to link to the X11
libs but will still allow WebGL code to work, but that's complicated, so
I'd like a stopgap.
I can detect that the failure is

Best way for rgl's .onLoad to fail?
If I recall it correctly, at least on Linux, rgl only needs X11 when
rgl.useNULL(FALSE). Is that correct? If so, I would say dependency
on X11 is optional and therefore you should be able to load the
package even without X11. Or is it that it still requires X11 libs
but not an X11 server?
My $.02

problem installing cairo on freebsd
G'day all,
I am trying to install the cairo package on FreeBSD and receiving an
error to do with Makevars - (I'm not very good at this stuff) so here
is my various bits of information. I guess this is a problem with a
missing library, but I have just been through a lot of grief trying to
get png and jpeg to work (they do now work!), so I'm not sure where to
go for this.

Clang8 on MacOS 10.14
[Please cc me, as I am not on this list.]
When installing the clang8 MacOS binary by
wget <clang-binaries-tarball-url>
tar -xf clang*
cd clang*
sudo mkdir /usr/local/clang8
sudo cp -R * /usr/local/clang8
the compiler works on MacOS 10.13, but not on MacOS 10.14, with an error:

compiling buoh comic reader for C-6
Hi all!
I'm trying to build the buoh comic reader for centos 6 and my head is
getting tired of repeated forceful contact with the wall.
I built it on 5.6 without undue problems, but somehow 6.0 is beating me.
(and no, the 5.6 binary doesn't work, at least not without a lot of
futzing around, on 6.0. tried that first.)
before I give gory details, has anyone already done this, from whom

__stderrp problem again with tk83
Hiho,
I just stumbled across the problem with the unresolved
__stderrp symbol. I've read the existing threads to that,
as well as UPDATING. However, there are some differences,
between the reported problems and my problem:
1. the unresolved symbol is not complained about in libm,
but in libtk83.so from the tk-8.3.5_1 port.
2. I _did_ install all the compatibility libs for
3.x, I even
