Making TIFF images with rtiff
Many medical journals and publishers require that images, whether
photographs or line art, be submitted as high resolution .TIFF images.
One option for R users is to produce an image in one format and to
convert it to a .TIFF file using a second software program. My
experience has been that this option often results in images of poorer
quality, often with blurry contours, and a loss of

Rsync 2.5.5: FreeBSD mknod can't create FIFO's
The following patch (adapted to rsync 2.5.5 from the one posted in
Dec. 2000, http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/rsync/2000-December/003349.html)
is necessary to prevent rsync from failing on creating FIFOs or UNIX
sockets on FreeBSD. Any chance for it to be integrated in a future
release of rsync?
Thomas.

I looked into that problem a bit more. Several programs use

[PATCH 00/09] arm: tools: build for arm64 and enable cross-compiling for both arm32 and arm64
The following patches shave some rough edges off the tools build system
to allow cross compiling for at least arm32 and arm64 based on the
Debian/Ubuntu multiarch infrastructure. They also add the necessary
fixes to build for arm64 (which I have only tried cross, not native).
I have posted some instructions on how to compile with these patches on
the wiki:

anyone else have a <sys/stat.h> that DOESN'T #include <sys/types.h> ?
I'm porting openssh 3.7.1p2 to a very BSD 4.4-ish system. My first
hint of a problem was that configure said it couldn't find <sys/types.h>
and that the sizes of char, int, etc were 0 (zero). It turned
out that "confdefs.h" had HAVE_SYS_STAT_H defined, but not HAVE_SYS_TYPES_H,
resulting in code such as the following to fail to compile on
a system where sys/stat.h does

I am new to usage of this mailing list, I have was going through some of
the archives to see if my question is addressed already but I could find
it. I could see mostly people are discussing about issues with rsync. My
query is not much related with issues with rsync but it is related to
compilation error which I am facing with latest version of rsync.

libtiff with bigtiff support
Can anyone tell me if the current libtiff-3.9.4-9.el6_3.x86_64 RPM has
bigtiff support built into it? I need this for tiling rather large
images for the Virtual Microscope project I am working on, and I am
having issues building the 4x versions that only seem to be available
for F18.
Thank you for any information you can provide

Patch for UnixWare 7
Hi,
I have ported OpenSSH-4.0p1 to UnixWare 7.1.4. Can you please add the
following for UnixWare 7 in the configure script:
Description:
+ cross compiler produces i386a.out.
+ libcrypt which needs to come after openssl's libcrypto.
+ passwd needs user name.
Thanks,
Ahsan Rashid
