Possible `substr` bug in UTF-8 Corner Case
Thanks, fixed in R-devel (by checking validity of UTF-8 strings for substr/substring). more powerful iconv
R community, As you may know, R's iconv doesn't work well converting to and from encodings that allow embedded nulls. For example > iconv("foo", to="UTF-16") Error in iconv("foo", to = "UTF-16") : embedded nul in string: '\xff\xfef\0o\0o\0' However, I don't believe embedded nulls are at issue here, but rather that R's iconv

I have a Samba 3.6 PDC (ClearOS) that I want to migrate to Sernet Samba 4.2 AD on a Centos7-arm box. So I am reading: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Migrating_a_Samba_NT4_domain_to_a_Samba_AD_domain_%28classic_upgrade%29 And trying to figure out what files I need. Note this is a totally NEW box, I need to copy over the needed files. So do I move all of the .tdb files? There are actually

3D ellipsoid confidence region
I am curious if there is code developed to plot confidence regions in 3D. The scatterplot3d function generates the plot I want, but would like an 3D equivalent to the data.ellipse function. Any help in this direction would be appreciated, be it theoretical, graphical, or otherwise. Seg Fault memory violation
Greetings all, Recently ran into a seg fault the keeps reoccurring whenever R-java is used (I believe). Not sure if this is an R issue or an openjdk issue so I'm trying to cover all bases with this report. I tried downgrading R version from 3.4.0 to 3.3.3 with the same results. Also tried downgrading java version from 1.8 to 1.7 with no luck. Running on a fully updated CentOS 7 x86_64,

Difficult debug
I haven't done any R memory debugging lately, but https://www.mail-archive.com/rcpp-devel at lists.r-forge.r-project.org/msg10289.html shows how I used to have gdb break where valgrind finds a problem so you could examine the details. Also, running your code after running gctorture(TRUE) can help track down memory problems. -Bill On Wed, Feb 7, 2024 at 12:03?PM Therneau, Terry M., Ph.D.

Difficult debug
?I've hit a roadblock debugging a new update to the survival package.?? I do debugging in a developement envinment, i.e. I don't create and load a package but rather? source all the .R files and dyn.load an .so file, which makes things a bit easier. ? Running with R -d "valgrind --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full" one of my test files crashes in simple R code a dozen lines

Busy message on ISDN cards?
Hi all, I'm new to asterisk and not too knowledgeable on ISDN, so please be gentle :) I have a dual-channel Eicon Diehl Diva card in a Debian Woody box with kernel 2.4.27, connecting to a Telstra (Australia) Onramp Home Highway ISDN line. I'm pretty certain the card and line both work since they've been used in this machine for PPP before this (but with an older kernel with DoV

valgrind false positive on R startup?
Hi all, I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, running R-4.0.0 which I compiled from source, and using valgrind I am always seeing the following message. Does anybody else see that? Is that a known false positive? Any ideas how to fix/suppress? Seems related to TRE, do I need to upgrade that? (base) tdhock at maude-MacBookPro:~/R/binsegRcpp$ R --vanilla -d valgrind -e 'extSoftVersion()' ==9565==

[net-next RFC PATCH] virtio_net: collect satistics and export through ethtool
Satistics counters is useful for debugging and performance optimization, so this patch lets virtio_net driver collect following and export them to userspace through "ethtool -S": - number of packets sent/received - number of bytes sent/received - number of callbacks for tx/rx - number of kick for tx/rx - number of bytes/packets queued for tx As virtnet_stats were per-cpu, so both
