Surpising behavior when using an active binding as loop index in R 4.0.0
A shorter reproducible example:
example(makeActiveBinding)
for (fred in 1:3) { 0 }
ls()
Both problems go away if you first do
compiler::enableJIT(2)
So looks like a bug in compiling the for loop.

Update RKWard to> = 0.7.0
Hello:
I just upgraded my Debian Stretch to version 3.5 by following the
instructions here:
https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/stretch-cran34/
Then I have updated as root the R from inside with:
update.packages(.libPaths()[1], ask = F, checkBuilt=TRUE, dependencies = F,
repos = "http://mirror.ibcp.fr/pub/CRAN/")
When finalizing the update of the R, I execute
RKWard and I get

Update RKWard to> = 0.7.0
Hi Griera,
thanks for your report - I do not use rkward, so I did not notice that for
some reason my backporting script failed to download the latest rkward
version. I need to do apt-get source -t unstable instead of just apt-get
source to get the current rkward source package from unstable.
rkward 0.7 packages for i386 and amd64 are uploaded and will be synchronized
to CRAN within a day or

R_ParseVector API change
Dear R developers,
just a quick question: I noted that R_ParseVector () has gained an additional
parameter (since SVN rev. 39999). Since R_ParseVector () is part of the
public API, I'm wondering, whether this API change was intentional or not.
Either way is fine with me, but in order to make sure the next release of
RKWard will be compilable with R 2.5.0, I'd like to make sure,

recien instalado el SO). Asi que lo que hice en la

Help on rKward
Hi,
I'm testing rKward and it's become a great GUI for R on linux, mainly
for new linux users. I'm not a new linux user and I use Emacs for my own
R's script. But I always try new GUIs or IDEs for to recommend to my
students. The most dificult for new R and Linux users is: I have
installed R on my linux but I dont found the R icon. This happen because

rkward on Ubuntu heron with R2.8.0
I am running R on Ubuntu Heron.
I recently updated to R 2.8.0 from the default (2.6) in the Ubuntu heron
repository by adding
deb http://cran.stat.sfu.ca/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy/
I updated all packages installed in /usr/lib/R/site-library and those in
my home directory /home/duncan/R/i486-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.6
without obvious issues. I installed adehabitat and gpclib, which should

rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb missing
Hi Johannes:
Thank you very much. Rkward now works. The only drawback is that I had to install it "by hand":
sudo dpkg -i rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb rkward-data_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_all.deb
By default, apt-get installed the Debian repository version (rkward 0.6.5-1+b1 0.6.5-1+b1).
Thanks for your contributions to the R-Debian project!
Regards. Griera.

version problems of rkward in ubuntu hardy repository
Hi
I tried to install rkward under ubuntu hardy heron, but it tried to
use the one from the cran repository which was newer, but it did not
install. To be able to install rkward, I had to disable the cran
repository, install rkward, lock it's version and enable the
repository again.
I have the feeling, that the dependencies are not correct (it is

questions on RKWard
Folks,
I'm making progress moving from Windows to Linux and have RKward up and running. I read somewhere that Rkward's supposed to be the Tinn-R for linux and Tinn-R has worked out great for me. So naturally I'd like to do the following, if possible,
1. How to ask Rkward not to load the last saved image. Right now whenever it starts, it loads an image from some obscure corner of my

rkward_0.6.5-1~stretchcran.0_amd64.deb missing
Hello Johannes:
I'm sorry, but I still have the same problem with Rkward.
After running apt-get update, I still can not find the amd64 version of the Rkward package. I have tried it with the following sources:
deb http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian stretch-cran34/
deb http://chem.uft.uni-bremen.de/ranke/r-cran stretch-cran34/

Default par() options
The following question/idea came up on the RKWard development mailing list,
but might be of general interest:
Is there a nice way to customize the default look of all graphs on all
devices? I.e. a way to - for instance - set the following options before each
plot:
par(bg="light gray", las=2, pch=19)
As far as I have found, there would currently be two ways to do this:
1) Adding the

Dear R developers,
this mail is basically a summary / clarification of some previous mails I sent

About R and RKward
Hi all,
Has any folk tested or been using RKward? Please shed me some light whether it
takes data from the spreadsheet, analyzes the data and puts the data back to the
spreadsheet, similar to RExcel and "R and Calc". Or RKward is only an editor of
R, working on front-end?
I have tested RExcel but it works on Windows. I need a Linux version of similar
package. "R and
