Installing rpy2 on Red Hat 6
I need to install rpy2 on RHEL6. The version of R in the 6 repos is
3.0, and rpy2 does not work with that version. I installed R 3.3.3
following the directions here:
https://oguya.ch/posts/2017-03-18-building-R-on-rhel-6/. But even with
3.3.3 it's still failing. Using pip it fails with:

Installing R 3.4.0 on Red Hat 6
Hmmm. When I look at the contents of epel-release-latest-6.noarch.rpm, I
see:
/etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-EPEL-6
/etc/rpm/macros.ghc-srpm
/etc/yum.repos.d/epel-testing.repo
/etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo
/usr/share/doc/epel-release-6
/usr/share/doc/epel-release-6/GPL
Do you have those .repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ ?

SSH RPM for Red Hat 6.2 not useable
Hello,
I downloaded yesterday the Red Hat 6.2 RPMs for openssl
and openssh from one of the official mirrors.
I could install them on a stock Red Hat 6.2 box because
rpm -Uvh says (quoting from memory...):
cannot install because there is dependency conflict
between this rpm (openssh core) and the version of
rpm and rpmlib that you are using......
In other words, the rpm packages generated

installing R on Red Hat 7.1
Hello,
I'm having trouble installing R from the binary to my red hat 7.1 box.
There are 2 rpm files on the web site:
R-base-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
R-recommended-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
When I did:
> rpm -ivh R-recommended-1.5.0-1.i386.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
R-base = 1.5.0 is needed by R-recommended-1.5.0-1

Red Hat 7.1 installation
Please excuse what is probably a dumb question from a newbie.
I'm trying to upgrade to samba 2.2.7a. When I attempt to install the
RPM, I get a series of about 50 errors all in this format:
<path><file name> from install of samba-2.2.7a conflicts with file from
package samba-2.0.7-36.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and CentOS 5 extras packages
Hi,
In the advent of RHEL5 and CentOS 5, I've been rebuilding the RPMforge
packages for EL5. You can find these at the usual location[*]. A few
points though:
+ Not all RPMforge packages are available at this time
+ If you find a package that you need and isn't there, please do look at
the buildlogs and send me instructions on how to fix this specific
build. (Saves us time

CentOS-4 i386 errata: Configuration change for
centos-yumconf has been updated to include (but disable) all optional
centos repositories. This would allow a user to update / install from
an optional repository without needing to modify the configuration
files.
Example:
If you wanted to install a package named foo from the optional repositry
named centosplus, you would use the following command:
yum --enablerepo=centosplus install foo

Thanks
Arun

It sounds like you have something installed that doesn't need to be or shouldn't be
installed. Under what circumstances does that message appear? I haven't seen it on any
of my C8 systems,

update a wbel4 to centos4
Hi all,
Does anybody have experience with updating a wbel4 box to centos4? I
assume I can follow the basic faq19 instructions, but that's an assumption.
Thanks in advance
