Script file editors for Windows - submit highlighted text?
Greetings, I use S+, Stata, SAS and R depending on the weather... The script file editors in S+, SAS and Stata all allow me to submit a portion of a developing script file to the running process. In R I have to use an external editor and either source the entire file or do lots of copy-and-pasting. Are there any editors out there which interface to R more closely and let me submit a section

size units in xen-create-image, and other newbie doubts
Greetings, I'm fiddling with Xen at home, the dom0 is a freshly installed Debian stable (current 6.0.6 squeeze) using LVM over RAID. I want to use two VGs, so the pointy-clicky won't really do since --lvm only takes one argument (i assume). That's no big deal, i can use LVM tools and even the partitions.d scripts xen-tools can use and provide a partition template through the

introducing R to high school students
I participate peripherally on a listserve for middle- and high-school science teachers. Sometimes questions about graphing or data analysis come up. I never miss an opportunity to advocate for R. However, the teachers are often skeptical that their students would be able to issue commands or write a little code; they think it would be too difficult. Perhaps this stems from the Microsoft- and

Hard drives being renamed
Hi, We are running Centos 6.7 - 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64 on a Quanta Cirrascale, up to date with patches. We have had a couple of instances in which the hard drives have become renamed after reboot (e.g. drive sda is renamed to sdc after reboot). One time this occurred when we rebooted following the installation of a 10GB NIC card, another time after we tried to install mellanox drivers

Recommendations for Infiniband with CentOS 6.7
Hi All, We looking for suggestions on dealing with mellanox drivers in CentOS 6.7 We tried installing mellanox drivers (MLNX_OFED_LINUX-3.2-2.0.0.0-rhel6.7-x86_64) on a Quanta Cirrascale server running Centos 6.7 - 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64. When we rebooted the machine after installing the drivers, it went into a kernel panic for every installed kernel except for Centos 6.7

LiteSpeed
Yo Zed, Just curious -- what do you think of the LiteSpeed server? Is it better than Lighty? Does it (gasp!) also serve Rails apps like Mongrel? I think I read that LiteSpeed doesn''t have proxying support. Thanks, Joe __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Controlling Dovecot with Webmin
Dear Sir I have just setup a Fedora 4SE server, with Webmin - latest production release and Dovecot .99.14. The only way to start dovecot is to be logged into the server as root - locally or ssh, and type the dovecot command. >From Webmin - logged in as ROOT, when I attempt to start Dovecot it tells me that it can't because it can not open the config file - permission denied. Linux distro + Asterisk or Trixbox?
Hey all, I've been doing a lot of playing, and a lot of reading, and it seems people are split as to whereas if they're running their favorite Linux distro and asterisk or Trixbox. I'm getting closer to really looking at a production environment and I'm just looking for any opinions. I'm really enjoying learning linux and asterisk, so initial "ease of use"

userdb section not recognized in dovecot.conf. Help?
I'm following a tutorial[1] on how to configure dovecot and the tutorial says to insert the following configuration options into the dovecot.conf file: disable_plaintext_auth = no mail_privileged_group = mail mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u userdb { driver = passwd } This seems to have worked for a lot of others using this tutorial but not for me. When I try to start

"Only users" seems nonfunctional
L.S., Excerpt from my smb.conf on Samba 2.2.5: [global] ... security = share ... [BenD] public = no guest ok = no user = bzt only user = yes path = <...> writeable = yes browseable = yes printable = no ... Now, according to the manpage for smb.conf, I should only be able to log in and use service BenD as user bzt. Nevertheless, I can log in as any user as long as I know the password.

Nonfunctional linux/CIFS mounts after update (ADS / windows DC auth)
I think I'm having the exact same issue using sssd. All symptoms described by Patrick exists in my system except for the .com thing. I haven't tried it yet. Using ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS, samba 4.3.8-Ubuntu, sssd 1.12.5-1~trusty1 -JGC > > -----Original Message----- > From: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] On Behalf Of Glomski, > Patrick > Sent: Tuesday, April

WaveIn/WaveOut and Speex
Again, thank you for helping me. I know this might seem like a trivial matter to you and other experts in the field, but believe me, there are a lot of programmers, whose posts I saw on the web, who tried to use WaveIn/WaveOut and Speex and failed. As I understand it, WaveIn just buffers audio data according to the bit rate specified. So, if we use waveFormat.wBitsPerSample = 8, then each Char of

Nonfunctional linux/CIFS mounts after update (ADS / windows DC auth)
Greetings, We use samba to share files to windows and linux machines and are in the same boat as several others recently posting to the list. When badlock patches came out, we updated our CentOS7 samba server (everything from samba to sssd to krb5 to nss was updated) and immediately had problems with both client types not connecting to the windows shares. Windows machine connections were solved

Nonfunctional linux/CIFS mounts after update (ADS / windows DC auth)
I have been running in loglevel 10 and looking at the logs, but as I said in my initial post the credentials function fine with nautilus. Appended is a connection log snippet where samba walks through a cascade of authentication methods and finally fails. Earlier in the log, samba successfully determines which domain controller to talk to and pulls its information. However, just before the
