html5 icecast video source client
Five years after initially posting to this list[0], I finally completed
as browser-based video source client iceast.
The code is here:
https://gitlab.com/jamie/icecream
As Romain Beauxis responded to my initial email, webrtc was unsuitable
and websockets was the way to go. Thanks for the help!

ices not quite random
Hello,
I just got iceast + ices setup. I'm streaming from a playlist and it
streams/play just fine, however, it doesn't seem to be that random. It is
randomly picking through the first "grou" but not the rest. e.g. the
playlist.txt file has full paths to the ogg files, which are in different
subdirectories according to artist. But, it will only play from the first
artist.

behind a router
i've finally managed to stream in my network with icecast and muse. in the
iceast.xml config file i had to specify 192.168.2.5 as my bind-address, my ip
in my internal network (i'm behind a router) and from other computers in this
network i could hear my streaming. but i would like to stream even out of my
network. so i redirected port 8000 of the router to my internal ip, tried to

Sacrilege, but...
Hi all,
I'm afraid that having spent yet another entire day floundering around in
the world of icecast, I've really now got to the point of asking a
difficult question.
I set up an icecast server back in early 1999, and it seemed to work fine
for months. We had a server crash here that meant I had to go and reget
the sources to rebuild, and ever since then it has been nothing but

OK, am I missing something ??
Hi all,
Didn't get any replies to my previous query, so I thought I'd try again.
Since I last emailed out, my station has appeared on yp.icecast.org, so I
really don't know what was going on there....
This time, however, I'm hot on the trail of a generally crappy output
stream from icecast/streamcast/ices.
It stutters; it halts on track changes; it causes the little red

RE: Problems Listening in WinAmp 2.x, 5.x
I have set up icecast2 and ices2 and am playing ogg files from a playlist.
I can listen to stream in Linux using XMMS and Windows using FOOBAR2000.
The documentation indicates that WinAmp 2.x and 5.x will work, but need
to do tricks like
use mountname with ".ogg" extension. When I do that in WinAmp 2.x and
5.x tries to connect and nothing.
When in Admin in icecast, and view stats to

Using butt in same mount point that is used for relay
Hello.
We are using icecast to relay a radio station on local network and I have a question: There is a way to send streaming from a mic (with butt) using same mount point that we are using for relay? Or some workaround for it like using fallback mount point?
Azuracast can do it but the software have some bugs (in general usage) and I need a more fast solution for now....
Best regards.

Now this is bringing back some memories.
I thought only certain BSDs had this 'feature' that background processes

Anyone??
I've made a few posts to this mailing list regarding my Google Summer of
Code project, and had almost no responses.
If anyone has any suggestions or comments, please do so.

CPU Utilization Weirdness
Using Icecast 1.3.11 and Ices 0.2.2. Have compiled Ices with the optimize
flags defined. Using PII 266 - 160MB, RH 7.1 with default kernel (2.4.7 i
think)
Situation that I have is interesting:
1) Bring icecast up in the foreground and everything is well. Works as
expected. Bring ices up in the foreground in another session and it too
works as expected. System will run well until I take it down.

CPU Utilization Weirdness
Did some more experimenting last night. When I changed icecast and ices back
to 'daemon mode' they lasted for about 5 songs, before tanking. I then tried
combinations of icecast as a daemon and ices not, and vice versa - same
results. Even recompiled without any mods to icecast.
The only thing that seems to work is starting the processes and piping them
to null. The only disadvantage to

Registering on Shoutcast
Is there something other than enabling yp.shoutcast.com in iceast.conf to
