MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
I am using the standard Xiph.org FLAC encoder, but I couldn't find any option to update the meta-data mid-stream.
Also the FLAC spec says, that it defines VORBIS_COMMENT as the only way to transmit meta-data information.
This is the only officially supported tagging mechanism in FLAC. There may be only one VORBIS_COMMENT block in a stream.
As such, when you state, that meta data is the domain

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Thanks for your clear answer.
I'll try to contact the OGG, FLAC a Opus encoder developers at xiph.org.
As it currently seems, that there is no direct support for chained streams on the 'client-side' (encoder side) when using the reference encoders as provided by xiph.org.
As such I find it a bit odd to have no 'out-of-the-box' solution available at all.
Even if all/you say:

Mid-Stream Meta Data Updates for ICEcast
I am streaming a FLAC OGG stream to an ICEcast server (a continuous/endless stream) using the standard FLAC command-line encoder (capturing STDOUT).
It seems, that with FLAC streams the song title (meta data) updates do not work.
Also the ICEcast admin web interface isn’t working for FLAC; while it is working for MP3, AAC as well as OGG streams.
I.e. when sending a continuous FLAC stream to

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Many Thanks for your answer.
Actually quite a few 'ifs', 'maybes' or 'shoulds'... ;-)
I have tried most of them (except liquidsoap).
However, even the mentioned apps like RadioDJ or Mixxx do NOT support meta data changes via the encoder (they all use the admin interface)!
And as you correctly pointed out: none of the reference encoders support this.
Not even the FLAC, OGG

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
I am a software developer myself. We develop a Radio Automation System/Broadcasting. Hence we are using the reference encoders.
For OGG there is LUCKILY still the admin interface working to update meta data mid-stream.
That is why my post is related to the other ogg based formats: FLAC and OPUS!
Tractor Pro is btw not supporting FLAC or OPUS and alao uses the admin update interface!
As such

MetaData Update for FLAC and OPUS
Hi Philipp,
While you might logically/theoretically be right with what you say, it is not really practical and unfortunately not user friendly.
Let me try to explain my standpoint:
Most users do use ICEcast to stream a continuous stream, e.g. they stream a live DJ or radio program.
I.e. they setup a single encoder on a single audio stream.
Still this logical stream contains different tracks being

Meta Data for opus and FLAC do not work
Hi,
I try to find out how to update the meta data on a flac or opus stream.
Look like its not support this formats. And update interface do not
work.
Is there a solution to make this work?
Best regards,
Michel

OPUS/FLAC Metadata
Marvin,
That is the current version being used and it still has no meta data.
server_id Icecast 2.4.99.1
Testing the metadata from the admin page “Update Metadata” results in the response:
Message: Mountpoint will not accept URL updates
Return Code: 1
So I would guess it isn’t functioning yet.

OPUS/FLAC Metadata
Anyone know any workarounds for OPUS/FLAC metadata on IceCast? I’ve monitored my inbound stream and this is working correctly (or at least the formatting and data for the OPUS stream is identical to the MP3/AAC+ streams). I see people with OPUS streams and metadata but they may not be using IceCast. Is it safe to assume we’ll see this in the next version?

Opus vs AAC (endurance test)
using iTunes i've noticed that AAC is
very good at re-encoding own lossy sound.
let's test Opus!
neroaacenc.exe -q 0.75 -if 000.wav -of 001.m4a
neroaacdec.exe -if 001.m4a -of aac001.wav
wavdiff.exe 000.wav aac001.wav
Comparing 000.wav - aac001.wav...
Max diff: -17.3867dB
RMS diff: -33.0851dB
Mean diff: -32.4582dB
opusenc.exe --bitrate 512 "000.wav" 001.opus
opusdec.exe 001.opus

OggFLAC metadata support
Hello,
I'm currently using Liquidsoap to stream a group of files to Icecast.
The stream is sent to Icecast in a few different formats (MP3,HE-AAC
v2,OggFlac,OggOpus).
The "Current Song" metadata is correctly displayed for the MP3 and the AAC
stream, but not the OggFLAC or OggOpus stream.
I see a few entries in the Icecast forums, but it does look like FLAC
metadata support never

dir.xiph.org : OPUS stream wrongly identified as Vorbis
Hello,
We started to publish an OPUS stream amongst others on our Icecast
streaming server. That's cool, we're muxing it in an Ogg container, it
works well !
So this is just a remark : as the Icecast shows its type as
"application/ogg", it may be the reason why the Icecast directory shows
this as an Ogg Vorbis stream although it's an Ogg OPUS one.
Any idea how to correct
