Ices0 & Icecast2
Hi, I would like to stream MP3 to Icecast2 and read in the archives that this should work fine with ices0. I compiled and installed both icecast2 and ices0 fine, but ices0 seems to fail to authenticate. Cannot build ices0/libshout2 on Mac OSX 10.4.2
Hi - I'm rebuilding my OSX system and I can't get ices0 to build - or to be more exact, can't get libshout2 to build. I started by using DarwinPorts, and icecast2 & libogg & libvorbis seemed to build OK. The install of ices0 then gave up at the libshout2 config stage with output like this: [...] checking for libvorbis... ok checking for struct ovectl_ratemanage_arg... no

libshout2, ices0-3 and ices2 on Win32. Announce
Hi Abhijit I can't answer your questions but I would be very interested in a fully working binary of Ices2 for Win32 once it's ready. Thanks for the effort. How to tell Ices0 reloading the playlist?
Hi all! How can I tell ices0 to refersh/reload the playlist? I thought it would be done automaticaly, but now if I changed the playlist, Ices didn't see this. Played funny the old one again and again. Is it possible to get ices a kick to reload the playlist? Greetings Anatol

libshout2, ices0-3 and ices2 on Win32. Announce
Hello.. I have libshout2, ices0-3 and ices2 compiling on Win32 with MSVC++ 6.0. However, I don't know where to upload the code and if someone is kind enuff to point out the location(s)/procedure that would be great. I will put a readme in the distro for compiling procedures. ices2 compiles but doesn't run correctly (yet). There are some issues related to parsing the ices-playlist.xml

ices0, lame, and m4a
Ok, I don't know what I'm doing wrong here, so I signed up to the mailing list. Here's the situation: I have an extensive music collection and have just purchased an iPod. I already have ripped a few of my CDs (about 4Gb worth) in an mp3 format (previously had an mp3 CD player), but I'm not planning to rip the rest of my CD collection in an mp3 format. At the moment, I'm

Perl module and ices0
Hi, Can anyone give me some advice about how to go about creating a perl-driven playlist for ices0? I'd be grateful. I don't know what creating a Perl "module" entails, to be honest. I've written a .pl script which does the necessary functions and returns the path to the next MP3 file; is it enough just to reference this script by name in the <Module></Module>

ices0 and ices2 on /dev/dsp?
Simple newbie question (if I had the necessary hardware, I'd just try it). Can I run both ices0 and ices2 simultaneously, point them at the same source (/dev/dsp) and then use icecast to broadcast both ogg vorbis and MP3 streams? -- Jeff Simmons jsimmons@goblin.punk.net Simmons Consulting - Network Engineering, Administration, Security "You

ices0 SIGHUP
Hello, the manpage of ices0 states that on SIGHUP, it'll reopen config and playlist. However, if I change the playlist and HUP, it seems it's still using the old one. Is this expected beharviour and I'm just missing something? Thanks for any insight, Frank

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
Hi Rob The stream format has nothing to do with your audio files. I probably have 70% MP3's and 30% Ogg Vorbis files, and 1 or 2 WAV files for jingles on my hard drive. I only encode new CD's to Ogg Vorbis. But my station is streaming in AAC+ format, and I have also streamed in Ogg Vorbis format simultaneously. There is no way I would bother streaming in MP3 format. It's 15+

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I thought the YP code was going to be fixed to use less resources so it could be used with other stream formats. It seems to be taking a long time. As it is now, Icecast2 is not a good solution for those wanting to be on a popular directory. I am forced to recommend using Shoutcast to my clients so they can get onto a popular directory. I would prefer to recommend Icecast2. Ross Levis.

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I can understand wanting to boost the adoption of Xiph codecs, but I think restricting the directory to vorbis streams only will not help this endeavour. I can imagine it will just piss a lot of people, including myself, and give Xiph a bad name. I get very few listeners of my AAC+ stream now since this occured. The restriction is not an insentive to switch to Ogg Vorbis at all. The incentive

error after sending SIGHUP to Ices0
Hi all, after sending SIGHUP to Ices0, Ices0 reloads the playlist correctly. Indeed Ices0 plays the new playlist, but starts not at position one as expected. Ices0 starts at the last position played on the old playlist + 1. What have I missed? Many thanks in advance. Greets Boerni
