libao alsa output
Hi, I sent the below a few days ago. It still hasn't turned up in the archive so i'm trying again. Since the first mail was sent, i've found out that removing the call to *_set_periods and *_set_period_size is a better solution to the problem. It seems that the alsa defaults are better than what ever fine tuning the code is trying to do. patch: ---

Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Geoff Shang wrote: > Does your playback match the sound that you are encoding? Perhaps share > your config file so we can help troubleshoot this. I would think so, but I might have missed something.
Here is my IceS2-config - with this one, the problem manifests after 2 minutes of playing, and the client is disconnected after 3 minutes. I have tried tweaking bitrate, quality,

[PATCH 02/38] Annotate hardware config module parameters in arch/x86/mm/
When the kernel is running in secure boot mode, we lock down the kernel to prevent userspace from modifying the running kernel image. Whilst this includes prohibiting access to things like /dev/mem, it must also prevent access by means of configuring driver modules in such a way as to cause a device to access or modify the kernel image. To this end, annotate module_param* statements that refer

Alpha Paging
I have a need to be able to send faxes and alpha pages from the same box as asterisk is running on. Since asterisk handles all of the calls would I need to get a separate fax modem for this or can I run it through one of the FXO ports? Soes anyone have any example configurations or would any one be able offer consulting services to assist me in setting this up? We have a short timeframe so we

Freelance Rate
Hi, Not sure where to address this question ... but I guess this is a good start. I am a freelance Rails developer - and have been developing Rails apps professionally for about a year now. I just want to get an idea of what you other freelancers charge yourselves out at. I have been charging the equivalent of about $28/hour, but get a sense that I could/should charge a whole lot more. I am

Server drops client - problem with IceS?
Hi there, I just joined the list and have a question on one of the earlier posts: On Oct 28 2003, Ricardo wrote that his server diconnected his clients. I have the exact same problem - and a bit of testing/analysis.
I am running an Icecast server and IceS on the same linux box. IceS is encoding a live stream from my sound card. After a while of listening (approx 2 mins) from another

*Real* real time streaming (no delay/latency)?
Hello Does anyone have experience with _real_ real time streaming - i.e. with very little delay/latency? I need to stream from point A to point B in near-CD quality via a 100 Mbit network. That is easily done using icecast. But here is the tricky bit: I want as little delay in the signal as possibble - preferrably below 50ms! I have made a test setup encoding on and serving from an 800 MHz
