[Bridge] device eth0 is already a member of a bridge; can't enslave it to bridge Net6
Hello, I am working on Network-Simulation (VNUML). Our simulator uses linux bridgi= ng to connect the UMLs. So there is one problem: The example is the following: There are two hosts simulating one big net. The two hosts have connection over the external nets Net3 and Net6 (see htt= p://www.uni-koblenz.de/~timbub/verteilteSim3.GIF), but in fact there is onl= y one physical connection between the

Setting up a simple NAT on CentOS 3.5
Well I think this system is back on 3.5. How do I tell? Have not used it in a while... I need a NAT for some quick testing and this box was available. Only a 6gb drive, so I can't install Astaro (which I have licenses for). So is there a simple way to turn on NATing? Should I upgrade to 4.2? This box is behind a firewall, so security risks are not the issue. This time.

[Bridge] Help: Bridge and NAT through same NIC?
I am so out of my depth on this one, but I would welcome some help. I have the following network and did get it to work with m0n0wall (a BSD firewall) an option called "transparent bridge". I've switched to Clark Connect because of its support for content filtering, and installed bridge-utils. I have a home network based a single WAN-facing NIC, eth0, that gets a public IP address

How to set a host with public IP within a private network?
Hello! I have the following setup: 1) a connection to my ISP with a public IP (1.2.3.4) with the gateway 1.2.3.1 2) an allocated IP class with 64 addresses (5.6.7.192/26) 3) two LANs connected through two NICs: a) 192.168.0.0/24 on eth1 (192.168.0.1) b) 10.0.0.0/24 on eth2 (10.0.0.1) The IPs from the allocated class are all assigned to eth0. The networks are SNATed to the external IP and

SIP, NAT, and load balancing problems
Hello all, I have a linux machine with a SIP server (Asterisk) and 2 WAN interfaces (NATed) configured to do load balancing. I experienced problems with the SIP/RTP protocols and load balancing, because when initiating a call to an external SIP Host, a new RTP flow starts from the server to the Host, that sometimes uses another default route (due to the nexthop configuration). As i have two

QoS on a bridge+NAT
I have a setup where I have three NIC in a Debian box. I have eth1 conected to internet and eth0 NAT''ed to 192.168.1.1. eth1 and eth2 are bridged together, given ip 192.168.122.2. What I want to achieve is to perform traffic shaping on the bridge as well as prioritizing the traffic from eth0 very low. (This is from trental flat ...) However it seems that I am unable to perform thhe

Dual personality Server (network pass through)
I have 3 nics in a NATed gateway file server. Two nics (eth1, eth2) provide dhcp and nfs services to an internal subnet via a dedicated switch. The other nic (eth0) connects to an external WAN switch to provide net access to the systems in the subnet. --- eth1 WAN switch eth0 --- | SUBNET switch --- eth2 Question: Is it

Bridge and Router on the same device
I want to configure a device with three network interfaces where two of them would bridge two segments of the LAN subnet and the third one would be connected to the WAN link. eth0 - 10.10.10.2/24 to be connected to the internet gateway having IP 10.10.10.1/24 (also the default gateway for the device) eth1 and eth2 bridged as br0 with IP address 172.16.100.1 connected to different segments of the

configure network bridge listing bridged intefaces
Hi all, Having a 4 NIC server, I want to bridge eth2 and eth3, with a bridge named br0. Searching the web I only found about creating a file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0, but did not find where to explicitely list what ports will be bridged. Where is it configured? Thank you. -- RMA.

Traffic Shaping and Bridge
Hi All, I''m using Shorewall 3.0.4 and I''m wondering if it is possible to do traffic shapping on only one interface from a bridge. The firewall has got 3 NIC, eth0, eth1, eth2. eth0 and eth2 are bridged, but if I''m right, when you specify a traffic rate for a link, you do it for the interface. In my case, eth0 and eth2 do not appear in the interface file, but it is

[Bridge] Linux Bridge + STP + VLAN
Hi, we're running the standard linux bridge setup (redundant bridge) for 5 years now. So first of all, thanks to everyone involved for implementing the bridging feature in Linux. Now I'm trying to bridge hosts connected to VLAN'ed Cisco switches using linux bridge. I'm testing the following setup (Kernel 2.6.19, bridge-utils 1.2 on both bridges)

Bridging lan over wireless link
Hi all, I want to create a bridge (see picture below) between 2 LANs with the same IP range (192.168.0.0/24) using 2 wireless links that use load sharing over multiple interfaces (as descibed here: http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.loadshare.html) for load balancing and fault tolerance. Both links should use IPsec for encryption. I have googled for an example that does this but I could not find it.

Is ProxyARP or NAT entries really neccesary for DNAT to work?
I have been trying to get DNAT to work and I actually have succeeded too, however, not how I thought it would work when reading through the documentation. 1. No matter what I do I cannot get DNAT to work unless I have an entry in eiter the nat or the proxyarp file. Is that really how it''s supposed to be? I can''t find anything about it in the documentation. 2. Also, in the

Questions about NAT and MASQ and more
Hello, I''m working on a Shorewall-1.2 setup on a _remote_ debian (woody) firewall with several live web and mail servers behind it. I know doing this remotely is a *really* bad idea, and I''d rather not be in this situation, but so it goes... Worst case scenario, I lock myself out and have to drive an hour to get physical access to the machine and restore service. Anyhow,
