Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
looks like a job for liquidsoap! You can set up a playlist of any kind of audio. It will encode AAC and AAC+ both have small footprints with better audio delivery. I assume you are using mp3 as source because of limited space. The resampled sound will be no better then the mp3 source and in some cases will not be so good. regards Robert On 13/07/20 6:25 am, axeon wrote: > Hi all, I set

converting mp3's to aac+ or ogg
Hello, I've got a FreeBSD 6 machine running icecast2 and ices0streaming four different streams of mp3's. Now i have a need to stream the same content as either aac+ or ogg vorbis whichever would be easiest to set up and give the best quality. I want these new streams to handle both broadband and dialup users without sacrificing quality. My problem is i really really do not want to

Newbie question: Poor transmission quality
I am using Icecast2 with Ezstream, sending a playlist of mp3s. The signal quality is fine over my home network; but out on the internet it is poor, with frequent interruptions and losses of connection. I would like to know which of the following two conditions, if any, can be causing the problem. First, I have a dsl internet service, with only 160k upload capacity. Second, my home network is

ezstream question
Hello, I can't seem to understand - how am I supposed to make ezstreams conf file to get ezstream to reencode the stream it gets in stdin, and send it to port streamreencoded.mp3 and also send it as not encoded to stream.mp3 ? The input is MP3, out should be MP3 - one notice - I do not have a sound card on the server - is it still possible ? >From what I read, it is supposed to be

Questions on setting up icecast
yep, they simply forward the bitstream to icecast. And in general, bitrate changes are handled by most listening clients, although very few I have found (if any) can handle samplerate changes appropriately. oddsock At 10:03 AM 9/14/2004, you wrote: >You mentioned these programs and their "no-reencoding" mode. new utility - ezstream
Just wanted to let everyone know that I've released a new streaming utility called (appropriately enough) ezstream. ezstream will read in mp3/vorbis files and send them (without reencoding) to an icecast2 server. It can also take in input from stdin. We used to have a utility like this (called shout) but shout had horrible timing issues and didn't work well at all. This version

ices and VBR mp3s?
I posted a while back about having trouble with ices 0.2.2 being able to re-encode VBR mp3s, and the response was that ices 0.2.2 did not reencode VBR mp3s. Are there any plans to include such support in future ices versions? If so, any ideas as to when such versions would become available? Thanks, -- "Shall life renew these bodies of a truth? I think so. :) I'd be surprised if it ran on windows though.

ezstream question
Hi all: I am managing a radio station that has 7 streams. I am using icecast, ices and ezstream on the streams and overall it is working pretty well. One of the streams is an old time radio stream and I use ezstream to run the prerecorded shows. The streams are 128K mp3 streams. Also this station is running on a VPS using Ubuntu 14.04. My question: Is there a package or some sort of

Questions on setting up icecast
Sorry, gang. The FAQ didn't seem to answer me, nor did Googling... I merely want a simple solution to do the following: I am setting up a streaming server for in-house use. I want it to broadcast the RAW MP3 DATA from my actual MP3 files, as I listen to them in xmms. In other words, I DO NOT want: XMMS ---> decode to wave ---> re-encode to MP3 ---> icecast ---> listeners I

ices 0.2.2 does not reencode mp3s
I recently upgraded ices from 0.1.0 to 0.2.2. I have found that it is not reencoding my mp3 stream, even though I have it configured to. This is on a RedHat linux 7.0 system, kernel 2.4.11 ices build commands: ./configure --with-perl --with-lame \ --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/include \ --with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/src/lame-3.89/libmp3lame/.libs gmake

ices0.4: icecast mp3 stream for source ?
Hello together, we would like to use IceCast 2.3.1 as a mp3 streamer source for reencoding several sources of ices 0.4. It is working perfectly already by using an mp3 playlist with local stored mp3s. But our plan is to upload an 160 kbps stream and want ices 0.4 to reencode to 96, 56 and 32 kbps. Uploading 1 getting 4 streams. We are streaming with SAM Broadcaster 2. Icecast runs on SuSE 9.3

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio station and need a little advice. We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower bandwidth, etc.) I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be a "best practice" but I can't find it. Our basic
