How to read percentage and currency data?
I'm struggling to find any help on this seemingly simple question - how does
one read data with percentage (%) or currency (?,$ etc.) signs? When I try
to read a data file which has any of those symbols in the data fields, they
are read as characters rather than values. Is there a function or library
which can deal with such values?
As an example, I use this sample from one of chinna's

Icecast on my website
No flash player can fetch the embedded metadata due to security
restrictions concerning non-standard request headers which is required in
order to get the embedded metadata. A patch for ice cast to allow this
however is quite possible, perhaps a config directive that tells icecast
not to wait for the specific request header and send the embedded metadata
regardless of the icy-metadata header will

ISDN30 card for UK : sanity check
We will be connecting our Asterisk server to ISDN 30 and intend using
the Sangoma A101 card. The install location is in London (UK).
Sangoma card at Voipon
http://www.voipon.co.uk/sangoma-a101-pri-isdn-card-p-132.html?gclid=CI32vJz22I0CFQXklAodIgjHaA
I would be grateful to hear if this is the right choice of card. Usage
reports would be helpful.

lmer Error: Downdated X'X is not positive definite
Hi,
This is the first time I've posted, and I apologize if I formulate this
incorrectly.
I am analyzing data from a multi-region carrot variety trial. 35 varieties
of carrots were grown in 3 randomized complete blocks in organic and
conventional fields in Wisconsin, Indiana, Washington, and California. In
this example I am comparing the heights of the carrot tops at harvest.

Hi Kelly,
Try running 'iostat -xdmc 1'. Look for a single drive that has
substantially greater await than ~10msec. If all the drives
except one are taking 6-8msec, but one is very

R's Data Dredging Philosophy for Distribution Fitting
Forum,
I'm a grad student in Civil Eng, took some Stats classes that required
students learn R, and I have since taken to R and use it for as much as I
can. Back in my lab/office, many of my fellow grad students still use
proprietary software at the behest of advisers who are familiar with the
recommended software (Statistica, @Risk (Excel Add-on), etc). I have spent
a lot of time learning

Unreasonably poor performance of replicated volumes
Hello everybody!
I have 3 gluster servers (*gluster 3.12.6, Centos 7.2*; those are actually
virtual machines located on 3 separate physical XenServer7.1 servers)
They are all connected via infiniband network. Iperf3 shows around *23
Gbit/s network bandwidth *between each 2 of them.
Each server has 3 HDD put into a *stripe*3 thin pool (LVM2) *with logical
volume created on top of it, formatted

Problems making subsets with [] or "subset"
Hi,
I'm trying to make a model in order to know wich factors got?s influence in
the intensity of a infection, but just in the individuals who's got this
infection. In my data I've got a variable called "prevalence" with 2 levels:
1.- Infected individual
0.- Non infected
So what i'm trying to do is a subset in a model like this,

Further analysis it looks like the status string matches the q1 subdriver
but a lowercase "f" is sent to request it instead of "Q1\r". What do you

Unreasonably poor performance of replicated volumes
Guess you went through user lists and tried something like this already
http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2018-April/033811.html
I have a same exact setup and below is as far as it went after months of
trail and error.
We all have somewhat same setup and same issue with this - you can find
same post as yours on the daily basis.

Thanks a lot for your reply!
You guessed it right though - mailing lists, various blogs, documentation,
videos and even source code at this point. Changing some off the options
does make performance slightly better, but nothing particularly
groundbreaking.
So, if I understand you correctly, no one has yet managed to get acceptable
performance (relative to underlying hardware capabilities) with

Ever see a stata import problem like this?
Greetings Everybody:
I generated a 1.2MB dta file based on the general social survey with
Stata8 for linux. The file can be re-opened with Stata, but when I bring
it into R, it says all the values are missing for most of the variables.
This dataset is called "morgen.dta" and I dropped a copy online in case
you are interested

Icecast on my website
Not all browsers support the ICY HTTP Streaming Protocol. For AAC, it requires ADTS support, which contrary to popular belief, IS NOT RAW. It is AAC frames in an audio transport stream, not video TS.
To play this requires specific support, and it also needs to know about the embedded metadata, which once again, contrary to popular belief, ICY metadata IS NOT ID3vX.
ICY MP3 streaming is similar,

[ovirt-users] Re: Gluster problems, cluster performance issues
The profile seems to suggest very high latencies on the brick at
ovirt1.nwfiber.com:/gluster/brick1/engine
ovirt2.* shows decent numbers. Is everything OK with the brick on ovirt1?
Are the bricks of engine volume on both these servers identical in terms of
their config?

get statistics by group
Hi,
I have a data set look like this:
=================================
Fruit Quty
apple 20
banana 10
orange 17
apple 30
apple 15
orange 26
banana 15
.........and so on ..........
=================================
The level of fruit is 30, that is, there are 30
different fruits. I'd like to compute some simple
statistics for each different fruit and get output
like this:
