Newbie Questions
I inherited an icecast server at a radio station. I am not a linux/unix person. I am able to use putty and winscp to gain access. I can use sudo -s -H to gain root level access (dangerous, I know), but I do not know the OS (or even which OS variant). First question, how do I determine what OS is being used? Next question, I want to use logrotate.d to rotate (and archive) logs on a monthly

Hello
Why do you say TLS is not supported on Windows? I've been using it for about a year now. <div dir="auto">No I think you misunderstood me. The m3u file contains the URL with the port number in it, since as far as icecast knows that's is the URL. Hello
Too bad caster.fm only supports MP3 format for their free service: "Caster.fm free service allow streaming in MP3, other codec (aac, aac+,ogg) will result in a ban from Caster.fm." https://clients.caster.fm/knowledgebase/6/Allowed-Media-FormatorCodec.html Cheers, Jordan Erickson On 4/27/20 10:32 AM, Yahav Shasha wrote: >> you might want to look into paying for hosted

Hi Jake http://foo.bar/mountpoint is going to be interpreted as port 80 by the player You want to do http://foo.bar:8000/mountpoint > http://foo.bar/mountpoint I think you are going to have to do some port shifting from 8000 > someothernumber like 12345 on the router. regards Robert On 8/01/20 7:07 pm, jake at jakebriggs.com wrote: > No I think you misunderstood me. Hello
Hi, in case you lack the necessary skills its probably not a safe approach to try to host Icecast yourself. So instead you might want to look into paying for hosted Icecast solutions or get more familiar with the needed technical details involved with running a server before. Additionally Icecast for Windows lacks some important features like TLS support, ability to run as service easily and IPv6

Hello
Hi, Sorry I was under the assumption that the recent Windows build lacks TLS support due to being built without OpenSSL but that does not seem to be the case. Why current mount connection don't close after remove from config and reload?
Well I am only guessing here, but I suspect if icecast works like other daemons reload just reloads the config but doesn't terminate current connections. You probably want /etc/init.d/icecast restart On 15 May 2018 12:35:39 AM NZST, "subscription at nextdial.com.br" <subscription at nextdial.com.br> wrote: >Hello, > >After removing a mount from the xml config

Why current mount connection don't close after remove from config and reload?
Hello Jake, Thanks for you reply. If I restart all listeners's connections would be droped (not only those related to the droped mount). Nginx, for example, would reload the configuration droping the server/location that don't exists anymore and active the new ones. Icecast has not the same behaviour. Am I wrong? Is there any other way to do what I want to do?

No problem with the Adelaide one (https://tls1.wcrdev.com/coast-mp3) in VLC or in Chrome. But the other one only connects for about a second tops in VLC. Configuring two channels
Hi there, Are you able to assist us to configure two channels on icecast? We need to reconfigure icecast (our audio streaming server) to stream multiple "mount" points, to include the two additional streams that a digital radio app requires. Thank you Cat -- *CATHERINE PERCY* *Operations Manager* M: +64 21 076 1182 W: www.ctoa.co.nz F: www.facebook.com/CrescendoTrust

multiple mounts each varying bitrates
Hello, If anyone is running an Icecast server that serves at least 3 separate streams each with it's own bitrate can I get a look at your config? Thanks. Dave.
