Icecast Server doesn't start even after being properly configured
Thanks for the response Robert, but the situation stills the same. Tried
with all the possible IP addresses and forwarded again the port 8000 but
still the same.

Config and other areas of struggle
try the IP of the server, and port ford ward that.
my best guess, works on a machine with localhost, if you port forward the localhosts IP

Icecast Server doesn't start even after being properly configured
Do you get a specific error message? Or does it say server failed to start?

Config and other areas of struggle
I use a few raspberry pi’s and leave the icecast settings as localhost, and run darkice on the same Pi, I have let the router know to pass requests to port 8000 to the IP of the Pi.
Using your external IP is not right, if your server is say 192.168.1.21 thats the port forward, just be sure that the ports you use are in the router too, udp/tcp I use both myself watch for typos.
I think you are

The environment maybe, enable debug output on the job and redirect
or make sure the output is logged or picked up and mailed to you.
More than likely the ssh config that used to work no longer does.
For example you had a custom section for a host in

making sense of the stats
Hi, Robert. I appreciate the explanation. Indeed, the terminology is
not consistent or intuitive.
So by your "4 services" you mean _sources_?
If clients are source connections (one and the same?), then how do we
reconcile limits for both clients and sources? Is it like saying, 'for
all of the X sources, they can have a total of Y connections'?
How can I set limits on the

Config and other areas of struggle
Hi Damien (where Dan come from??)
I use 81.174.146.88:28888
Bet your router does not have loopback
So if you are using sam broadcaster it needs the icecast settings input to it, so it can forward to the icecast server.
If you use the local IP address of the icecast server you will see what I see.

NetworkManager vs. Firewalld vs. /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*****
I've made 3 CentOS 7 installation attempts to configure a simple
firewall/router box with 2 nics.
I got myself into a circular scenario where NetworkManager and
firewalld and /etc/sysconfig/network-scrpts/ifcfg-***** were
interfering or overwriting each other.
Needed to perform ifdown enp3s7 on the internal LAN nic in order to
make the external internet enp2s0 reach websites and ping

Perhaps check the mount settings in the icecast config file:
<mount type="normal">
<mount-name>/example-complex.ogg</mount-name>
<username>othersource</username>
<password>hackmemore</password>
<max-listeners>1</max-listeners>*
<max-listener-duration>3600</max-listener-duration>*

making sense of the stats
I can't make sense of the connection stats on the admin page. We have
one source and one mountpoint.
What is the difference between _client_connections_ and _clients_ and
_connection_s? How can they be so different in value? Same questions
for _listener_connections_ and _listeners_? The connections values seem
high for only 5 listeners and one admin.
Here is a snapshot of the admin

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate.
I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
Right, BUTT can be set to push to studio, and studio's IP is fixed.
It doesn't appear that Icecast Master can push to a Slave at studio,
Slave at studio has to pull from Master, and Master's IP address is not
fixed. So for our remotes, BUTT is the better choice for that, and all
the other reasons you mention.
Plus, when you are recording eight bands in a 12-hour broadcast day,

Icecast source client with web request/voting for next to play function
Hi all!
Thank you for having me. I'm a person who encourage a small local community
for musical involvement. It already kinda worked, we are doing plenty of
fantastic things together.
What I am now thinking of is 24/7 Internet radio based on Icecast that will
air all of their non-professional music I gathered. Functions I'm looking
for:
- frequent scanning of music directory to update

Icecast Server doesn't start even after being properly configured
Have you considered setting up a host name with no IP? I think that might be your best solution. I just cast is finicky when it comes to direct IP address situations.

Using Icecast relay function with dynamic IP at remote source end
Ha! Terms even a broadcaster can understand! Many many thanks.
If BUTT is considered to be as good a transporter as Icecast, then I
will stick with what I'm doing, if for no other reason than, "Master is
the source server (where the source comes from) and Slave is the relay.
THe connection is initiated by the slave to the master."
Slave may not know where the Master is. Master

Problem with Centos & Alsa on reboot
I have a number of machines using Centos 6.8
They have M-Audio sound cards.
When I set the output levels using alsamixer and save using 'alsactrl
store' [creating a requested directory] the settings do not restore on
reboot.
I have no idea why they don't.
running 'alsactrl restore' works so the settings are being saved.
I think the on board card settings are loaded OK
