client not displaying metadata on current song
Hello, I've got icecast2.31 and ices 0.4 streaming a static playlist of mp3's. I can connect with winamp version 5, and i see and hear the currently playing song. When that song goes to the next one title doesn't change, checking it in the ices.log file the information is updated appropriately. I've tried setting public to 1 in ices.conf, but that didn't do it. I'm

ezstream keeps getting glibc error on song
Hello everyone, I just setup an mp3 streaming server on an old laptop I had laying around using icecast and ezstream. The problem I am having is that when ezstream gets to a certain song in a playlist I get the error "*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x080576e0 ***". I'm not sure if it is doing this because of the song number it is or if it is a

Re: songs on website
Hi Christian, Aaron Wolfe has already sent me a script he used for his online radio. I only need to customize it -- and maybe create a Debian package from it. It knows much more than I need (requests, cancels, more stations, etc.), I'll have to cut out some parts. To answer your questions I use Debian Linux, I'll use ices2 as source, not a media player. Thanks, Jacint Christian

Icecast Song Tracking
Hi list, I was wondering if an Icecast mount is down, would icecast still keep a record of the songs being played, artist name, and at what time eatch song was played? And from what IP address the songs played from? If icecast keeps these records, where does it keep them? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

skipping at change of song
I think this may be an oddcast issue but I'm not sure. I've been streaming for a few days now and I've noticed when listening to the stream that at the change of every song the stream skips ahead slightly. It appears to occur when the metadata for the song title etc is being sent. For me this is a few seconds before the actual change of track since I'm using the SQRSoft

client disconnects after one song is played
I'm using the latest CVS source under Linux using a playlist of ogg files. When I use a client to connect on the same machine, there is not any disconnect (xmms and zinf). When using a client on a Windows machine, I get mixed results. Zinf on windows will play thru the current song but then stops when the song is finished and does not play the next song being streamed (see log below).

ices, name of current song
hi probably a simple question, but what commandline switch on ices will make freeamp/winamp display the name of the currently playing SONG? -n seems to name the stream, which is useful, but i'd realy like the display to be the sing, no the stream...? thx --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this

Current Song: utf-8
My app is sending utf-8 encoded metadata via the /admin URL interface but the Icecast web page displays it as ascii. Playing the stream in Winamp correctly displays Chinese characters. Is this not supported?

playlist streams
Hello again No replies regarding memory requirements! I have an idea to provide 1000's of streams without the requirement of 100's of source PC's, and perhaps without even requiring Icecast at all. But I'm not sure if this will work. We will have thousands of 24 hour playlists generated everyday by software I'm developing. If we encode all our audio files at 32kb/s, could

Really confusing issue involving ActiveRecord and a NoMethodError
Hey Everyone, I have been working on a project where I process an XML file that contains data about a music playlist, and I use 3 models: Playlist, Artist, and Song. Each model is mapped to a table in my database, and when my app processes the XML file, it will populate the database accordingly. The issue I have is that the Artist class and the Song class seem to be undefined, even though they

Logging songs played by Icecast server
Hello all, I skimmed the last year's worth of messages and all the docs and could find no reference to this. I'm hoping someone here can assist. I am a host for an Internet radio station, and we gave about 20 DJs. Each host determines their own playlist and uses a variety of tools to broadcast to the Icecast server (e.g. SAM2, SimpleCast, etc.). Since we do not have a set playlist for

client disconnects after one song is played || Winamp
I will give the older version of winamp a try. Interestingly enough, I found that zinf on linux on the internet does work. I wonder if these other clients on mac and winblows use an out dated version of vorbis. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authenticationfailed
Alright, I was able to recompile ices2beta, which connects to icecast, but now I'm getting: WARN playlist-builtin/playlist_read Corrupt or missing data in file When I try to play a basic playlist with 2 files (that are fine, and do exist). I have set the sample and nominal bitrates at 256000, which is also the encoding for the song... Does the bitrate of the song have to be exactly the same
