live mpeg4 input
I streamed Mpeg4 via QuickTime for several years using the encoder and
Helios server. Worked great with a QT player so it can be done but I don't
know of a way to do it for free.

I presume that separate players is to cumbersome for many users.
Is it possible to use find something that can encode in real time(flv?)
to a streaming server(icecast?)

reading mpeg4 dimensions and flv dimension using ruby
Hey guyz,
Well basically what i am trying to do is get ruby to read my video files
in so that i can get the dimensions of the video and then place the
dimension sizes in my view. The two formats i need to do this with are
mpeg4 (h.264) and FLV. Is there anyway i can get rails to access the
metadata of these formats and pull the dimensions from the metadata? Any
help would be greatly

how to create an mpeg4 mimetype (OT)
Hi All,
I think this may be off topic, but since it's through centos 5.2, I'm
not sure.
Here is what I would like to do:
I have created a web page for family to log into and view clips of my
new niece. My camera saves these clips in mpeg4 format. What I would
like to do is have the web clients click on the link and have either the
clip pop up a save dialog or even better, start

How to burn MP4/MPEG4 to DVD playable on a DVD player?
How to burn MP4/MPEG4 to DVD playable on a DVD player?
So you have downloaded movies and taken videos in the MP4 (MPEG-4) video format. Want to play MP4 files on home DVD player in your living room sitting on the couch? Well, due to the limits of most DVD players' capabilities, the original MP4 files can't be played directly on regular home DVD players. Therefore, you need to convert and

[OT-ish] WebM/Ogg VP8 streaming
Hi all,
Sorry for the VP8 question on the Theora list, but I think all the
relevant people are here :)
I'm using Icecast to distribute some Ogg Theora streams at the moment
with a view to adding VP8 along side these in future. Ideally I'd just
use Ogg VP8+Vorbis, I know there is a mapping for this already but how
much support from the browsers can I expect for this configuration?

Webm files written without duration in header
Hi Fred.
Appreciate your response.
Maybe in my explanation I have some red and green apples, but I can
agree that my understanding is as you explained it. 😊
The point is that if I can successfully stream mp4 with H.264 and AAC
encoding without any issues to icecast, I can then use ffmpeg to
turn it into HLS which then solves my iOS support issue. The CPU
cost of repackaging MP4 into HLS

Website for Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP
Hi
I have created a small website trying to document my Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP.
You can find it here.

Webm files written without duration in header
Hi Marvin
I followed this advice for updating moov flags in mp4 and it "streams"
directly from the file location on the server with html5 video:
https://rigor.com/blog/optimizing-mp4-video-for-fast-streaming.
Progressive downloading, seeking and video time all works 100% on a 195MB
file.

Re: DSP stamp
Yes, the Theora codec is based on VP3, which is an earlier version of ON2's
VP6 codec. Theora is currently at its alpha 3 release, and is stable enough
to have been used already for streaming live video from a number of
conferences, and for encoding several videos that can be found at
www.theora.org.
Development has progressed to the point that the value of the codec can be
seen. That

Actually, the important bit is that older browsers all have Java
already installed, and they're generally the ones that need cortado.

Webm files written without duration in header
Dear all
I am streaming live with webm with ffmpeg to icecast 2.4.2. After the
stream ends, I am unable to determine the duration of the file using
ffprobe or mediainfo. Not sure but it seems that this has to do with
headers?
Should icecast be writing the duration into the header or should this
somehow be passed from ffmpeg?
The requirement is really to determine the duration of the streamed

That makes sense. Explains why it is not there today.

Theora and WeBM support in Firefox and Opera
I did some tests:
### Theora support in Firefox 3.7a (missnamed as "Minefield"):
Same as since 3.5 (plays, no controls if Javascript off, no thorough
retest of buffering issues).

Video syntax
I'm planning to update Mango <http://mango.io/wtf?> to facilitate adding
video to Markdown documents. At the moment, of course, it's possible to
include video by including the appropriate HTML. There are three reasons,
though, that having syntax (official or unofficial) for video is a good
idea:
- *Simplicity.* Writing something like [youtube:gPbh6Ru7VVM] is easy.

I followed this workaround, which is nicely summarized at
https://github.com/postfixadmin/postfixadmin/issues/381#issuecomment-678269198
Yet, not all errors are suppressed this way:
$ doveadm pw

[PATCH 1/3] nv50: enable h264 and mpeg4 for nv98+ (vp3, vp4.0)
Create the ref_bo without any storage type flags set for now. The issue
probably arises from our use of the additional buffer space at the end
of the ref_bo. It should probably be split up in the future.
