icecast system requirements
Hi, i am thinking of installing Icecast to some old pc of mine. The pc is a pentium mmx at 166 with memory of 32 MB. Is this ok with icecast? If the answer is yes then could anyone recommend some distro that would be fine to install to this system in order to have icecast? I was thinking of fluxbuntu.

Newbie needs help
To all: I am running FreeBSD v7.03 and using icecast2 which is happily relaying a shoutcast MP3 stream. I want to play (mix)a pre-recorded "Stream ID" file to the existing stream once per hour. I've tried ices0 but no luck. Any help will be much appreciated. Mike

Desperate for a decent icecast client for Ubuntu 12.04
Hi I finalement sent a simple sh + darkice.cfg that launch Darkice with all the parameters . Actually we understood a bit too late that OSS is not supported on 12.04 anymore and thus we add to give an alsa path to specify the sound card. I plan on doing a simple web interface for Darkice, hasn't anyone tried this already ? thanks

Icecast source encoder that can handle http streams?
I need to set up an icecast server which will stream out local MP3s sometimes and relay another internet radio station at other times. In order to do this, it seems like the icecast relay support won't help me - there's no way to turn that on and off without changing the icecast config and restarting the server. The only external icecast source app that seems to handle http

Linux source-client that can push AAC to icecast2?
Hi all, I set up ezstream to read a playlist.m3u file containing only MP3 encoded songs (to shuffle continuously) and push this to icecast2. This works, and I can also reencode to a lower bitrate. I would like to know if there is a way to reencode these MP3s into AAC-LC 128kpbs and then push the stream to icecast2. I'm doing this on a VM with only terminal access and no audio hardware, so

Jack trouble- cannot lock etc/passwd (Icecast/IDJC)
I`m making my radio station with Icecast. On Windows desktop everything worked perfectly but on my private Ubuntu-based laptop it`s not so easy... I` m using a tutorial here: http://idjc.sourceforge.net/tutorials_icecast.html When I try to run Jack server I get something like this: "Jack is running in realtime mode, but you`re not allowed to use realtime scheduling. Your system has an audio

Forcing an ID on all mountpoints
Karl & All, Thanks for the replies.. It looks like there might be 1,000 ways to skin this cat. I was even looking at the LiquidSoap Harbor code as well- but only if I can run LiquidSoap as a service under CentOS. 73 Phil On Tue, 02 Nov 2010 21:15:47 +0000, Karl Heyes <karl at xiph.org> wrote: > On 02/11/10 19:35, W2LIE wrote: >> I'm looking for a way to tag my live feeds

Question over broadcasting using icecast server
Hallo everyone in the Icecast project. First of all i want to apologize in case this message should not be in this list but i believe this is the place to answer my question. I know only a little about icecast server. I would like to build up a live radio station. The concept is something like : the server is set up in some place and all producers broadcast themselves from their place, so

Mount with Relay: Fallback-override does not work
Hello, I'm using Icecast over 10 years, so let me first say *Thank you to all developers* of Icecast! I have a problem using a mount with relay and a fallback. The option <fallback-override> is not working. I tested two different configurations: _Configuration A:_ ??? <mount> ??????? <mount-name>/Stream-096k.mp3</mount-name> ???????

Icecast2 Station with multiple scheduled DJs?
I have been playing with Icecast only for a couple of days, and I am trying to figure out how to do something. I want a listener to have to only deal with one stream, but I want to be able to switch the source of that stream between multiple sources (DJs). The core idea is that the listener only deals with /live.mp3 while in the background I can problematically switch between a series of live

Forcing an ID on all mountpoints
I'm looking for a way to tag my live feeds via an audio announcement every 30 minutes or so using the Linux install of Icecast. Some of the feeds I control locally, and other feeds are from remote locations - so implimenting this must be as painless as possible for each encoding location. As of now, the best way I can think of to do this is by running 2 instances of Icecast. Allowing the

Education - 1, 000s, 100, 000's, Millions of listeners. (What kind of infrastructure)
Hi Wayne Yep, HLS is something we would like to use with Icecast. As you mentioned, Liquidsoap made a great step in the right direction if it comes to HLS. It seem that icecast might not get this support soon, as you might read in the discussion list. I don?t share these arguments, because we have real world use cases (we have many of them) where we would like use icecast with HLS support.
