icecast 1.x vs icecast 2
If you search the archives someone posted an unofficial howto to get icecast2
started. Was immensely helpful on the config file side of things. I then
stumbled across a short specification on the ices config file which helped me
figure out how to properly hook up a perl script to ices.

icecast error with metadata
Hello,
I've been running three mp3 streams off icecast2 and ices0 on a FreeBSD
5.4 box for a while. I've been getting some flakiness for a few weeks, where
the stream would stop and i'd have to restart the server. After the last
update to icecast2 now whenever i try to connect to the streams using say
winamp latest for windows i keep getting error 404's. My software versions

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authenticationfailed
go to http://www.icecast.org/~brendan and get the latest libshout2 and
the latest ices-0.2.3.
using the latest icecast2-cvs helps too. you can get that off the
icecast cvs.
i'm using ices-0.2.3. with icecast2, it's very stable and since it takes
almost no mem and no CPU, it's so easy to forget that it's there.

Newbie Icecast question
I've installed Icecast2 on RedHat 9 and am able to use WinAmp and
Oddcast on a Win2000 PC to source audio to the Icecast2 server. This has
helped me understand how to stream a live feed to Icecast2, which is
incredibly easy and useful.
My question is regarding pre-recorded audio files. If I have a series of
archived live performances (let's say they were archived to MP3 files),
how

I have the latest items, but cannot seem to figure out how to include
libshout2 in the ices build...I put it into the requested conf file, set
LIBDIR, and tried the --libdir param when compiling ices, with no luck.
Thanks!

Re:Icecast with Winamp
Hi,
I can get ices2/icecast2 to broadcast ogg files in a playlist to FOOBAR
in MS-Windows (and various apps in Linux). When I try to connect in
WinAmp in MS-Windows, I get in error.log:

Newbie questions: icecast streaming live radio...
Hey all,
I'm a newbie to icecast and to streaming in general. I have gotten as
far as downloading and compiling the icecast2, ices, and required
libraries.
I have started to configure icecast and ices and I can point a browser
to my icecast server, but then I get stuck. So, this all leads me to
some questions that I can't answer myself from the available HowTo, FAQ,
or man pages.

PHP + parsing # of listeners.
Hello all,
I have a quick question I believed was already touched on earlier, but I cannot
find the thread/information in the archives, so I am going to ask away and
ask for your patience. :)
So I have my wonderful little PHP script, and my .pls files, and the relaying
and everything else perfect for my icecast2 setup. But what I still need to
do is pull the # of listners for a mount point, and

A question on clients.
Hello, I am a long time icecast user and list lurker.
I have a simple question, as I am looking to use icecast2 for ogg streams.
Currently, I am using icecast1. I have lots of php scripts setup for
auto-loading, etc to make sure my listeners basically point and click, and
I use liveice to stream live. I know I'll have to rewrite my php scripts,
and I know I'll have to drop liveice when I

Ices Spawing Zombie Perl Scripts - Again
So, I finally had some time to go through my scripts and after some poking and
fixing I discovered that there is nothing wrong with my Perl script. It may be
ugly and inefficient but it gets the job done and closes without throwing
errors when run thru perl outside of ices.
However, ices continues to produce the defunct processes, a listing of ices
and icecast2 related material from ps is
