Speex Support for Ices?
Using ices w/ icecast, I noticed a 15 second delay between live audio and live stream. Another item I recently started researching, was using speex (speex.org related to ogg/vorbis). I'm wondering if this might significantly reduce delay times. One question I ponder is if user's players have the speex codec compared to the more popular vorbis/ogg codec. -- Roger

list of features and question to technology
Hey there, I am wondering if there is any list available giving me a list of feature of icecast (maybe also in comparision with shoutcast). Moreover, I was thinking if and how the following scenario is solved: suppose I'd like to stream 1000 different songs at one time, i.e. 1000 user will listen to different mp3s hosted by my streaming server. Are in this scenario all 1000 songs (at

Re: Viewing Broadcast using scope in a Webpage
Is there a method to code on XHTML webpage that will use a "scope" to display the music stream that is being played? (like something using JavaScript?)... Just curious... Streaming to Doja devices
Hi, Actually, I thought that Icecast did support seeking for static files. Of course it doesn't for a live stream. Geoff. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas B. Disconnections
Hi. <p>When I kick a broadcaster to start another streaming on this mountpoint, all the listeners are disconnected. Is it possible not to have them disconnected, like with shoutcast? If yes, how, and if not, why ? =) <p>Thanks Regards Niko <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To

parsing icecast 1 and icecast2 logs in GUI web format
Eisele, Would you mind sharing with myself and other what you did to get this running? I am very familiar with webalizer, but perhaps others are not so. I'd be curious to see your scripts for getting it to work with MRTG seeing as how I use that often as well. Thanks. Streaming to Doja devices
Doja devices (NTT Mobile Phones) are very limited in their connectivity capabilities and was wondering if icecast can help me overcome them. The first limitation is that they only support HTTP that as I can see would not be a problem with icecast. The second limitation is that these Doja devices cannot transfer more than 150KB of data per HTTP connection so I can not simply establish one

multiple instances? Updated
The OP seems to be still confused. SAM Broadcaster supports sending streams directly to Icecast servers, so Icecast does not need to be put in Shoutcast compatibility mode. He doesn't need to use different port numbers, as mentioned a few times. The mount points do not need to be defined in the configuration file unless you want different passwords or other unique settings per stream, as

bit/bytes
Hi Goeff, Thanks for your precisions. You wrote: "Internet connections are also expressed in bits, or kilobits, not Kilobytes"; then I guess a connection of 1Mb is also 1 megaBITS and NOT megaBYTES. There is something I don't understand; how are affording small radios that have up to 1000 concurrent listeners a 128Mb connection? Is there any magical solution I am not aware of?

Newbie question ... fallback mounts
Attached is my config file. The purpose is to interrupt my regular stream sith a station (stream) ID once per hour (time synchronized externally). I use ezstream to play the pre-recorded stream ID. I never hear the stream ID while listening to the stream. (There is a 10 second break in the stream once per hour) What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Mike -------------- next part

Errors using icecast!
Good day, I have been using Icecast 2.3.1 for sometime now, but recently I have not been able to run SAM broadcaster using Icecast. Sam says that my mount is inactive because it can't be found. Is there a problem with Icecast? I have heard that spacial audio has gone to shoutcast. What can you do to help me set up Icecast to run radio stations? I have tried all the forums, but nothing
