winamp shout
i am using icecast v1.3.11 my friend streams music to my server with the shout plugin for winamp. there are a couple of problems. 1. icecast doesn't seem to recognize when a client disconnects. i enabled the shoutcast and icecast directory servers, and they were both saying that i had around 400 listeners last night, when in fact i only had 8. the only lines in the icecast configuration

Pre-roll playing every time user disconnects and connects

The trick here is to find a way of serving the preroll without everyone hearing it. I guess you could use some on connect logic to determine if it should be played,

icecast-2.3.2-kh17 versus icecast-2.3.2
Hi, I've been using icecast-2.3.1 for some time now and it is really working well for me, solid as a rock (no crashes) and running 100's of streams and 1000's of listeners, but in order to support authentication and have easier configuration I want to start using the url authentication (esp. the stream_auth) and mount-name wildcards that are supported by icecast-2.3.2-kh17.

ices0.4: icecast mp3 stream for source ?
Hello together, we would like to use IceCast 2.3.1 as a mp3 streamer source for reencoding several sources of ices 0.4. It is working perfectly already by using an mp3 playlist with local stored mp3s. But our plan is to upload an 160 kbps stream and want ices 0.4 to reencode to 96, 56 and 32 kbps. Uploading 1 getting 4 streams. We are streaming with SAM Broadcaster 2. Icecast runs on SuSE 9.3

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Maarten, Yes, I'm behind ADSL with PPPoE but I don't think it is related with my case. When my client disconnects from IceCast server for 15-20 seconds, my active downloads are not interrupted. It currently effects only the route to my IceCast server, other routes looks uneffected. I'm pinging IceCast server continuously and checking trace route periodically. It is comething like:

Pre-roll playing every time user disconnects and connects
I was trying to see if there's a way to configure it so that someone with a weak network connection doesn't have to hear our pre-roll over and over again. Icecast 2.3.2 release
This is to announce the release of Icecast 2.3.2 2.3.2 is mainly a bug fix release with a couple of new items that may be of interest to a few of you. Even if the new features are not of interest, it is still highly recommended that you update to 2.3.2. Downloads are here : http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/icecast/icecast-2.3.2.tar.gz

Darkice/Streamer
Does anyone know if darkice can send the same stream to both an icecast and a shoutcast sever, without encoding it twice ? Or any suggestions for another streamer that can? Thanks, Dan

Buffer in IceCast
Hi Tom, You might be right, but I don't get why my existing downloads (I guess they are on different routes) are not affected. If my ADLS provider is doing some IP adjustments (btw my IP is static) I expect everything to disconnect, not only my icecast connection. So I'll monitor my USRobotics logs today and tomorrow so see if there is something strange. Regards, On Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at

cannot get icecast and ices to talk...authenticationfailed
I just tried with no mountpoint information, and I get the same results, icecast is still not accepting 'SOURCE hackme' as the first header, it only wants the password (verified by telneting in). So, how to I recompile libshout2 into the ices2beta? It doesn't want to take the command-line param, or the in.so.conf file setting (or the LIBDIR evn variable)... Or, can someone give me a

I see from your answer below that this is no longer possible. If you run multiple copies of icecast, they will be completely separate, and work as two separate entities. I have run many instances of icecast on the same

mounting an AD share upon login
Hi everyone, I am having trouble mounting a share on my AD server upon login. I am using pam_mount. Here is log activity when user 'peter' logs in (with Ubuntu client) and is authenticated by AD server. There is a share called 'peter' on the server (netbios name WIN2003) and the mount point is /home/PRIVATE/peter (see later for pam_mount.conf file): ===================== Jul

Icecast 2.3.2 doesn't list all mount points
Hello, I've upgraded from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2. I've been used to list all mount points by <xsl:for-each select="source"/> under /icestats. Howver now the /icestats elemets contains only source elemets which have been requested at least once. That means the list (e.g. /stats.xsl under web directory) is empty after server start. I've found out this regresion presents only
