Metadata
Hey everyone, according to Wikipedia's 4-year-old information, there is no standard for putting metadata into an Ogg file. That metadata must be included in the codec. For example, what if I want to make a Theora movie and include information about the color space or embed an ICC profile? Or can I include general textual information, like copyright? What about timecode? Brendan

Standard method to read current listeners without user/password
Is there a standard method to read the current number of listeners from an icecast2 server without knowing the admin user/password? We produce radio broadcasting/streaming software for Windows which can show the current number of listeners. Many Icecast hosting companies won't provide the admin password as they have lots of other customers using the same server, so the software

Your proposed wording was: 0000-0111 : (number of independent channels)-1. The channel order follows SMPTE/ITU-R recommendations. The assignments are as follows: The

I would switch to the only Windows player that seems to work properly -- Foobar2000 if it offered the same sort of control/API from external programs. Multichannel Vorbis encode
There is some time now that I reported this issue on the bugtracker: https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/roundup/ffmpeg/issue1325 And this guy, jbr, kindly created a patch that solved the problem. What is needed now for the patch to be included in the SVN? About his patch, there is a remap table that maps the channel order from SMPTE order to Vorbis order. What is this SMPTE order? Stream playback issue
Can anyone tell me why this AAC+ Icecast stream will not play. http://s2.stationplaylist.com:7014/listen.aac.m3u The Icecast Server web page looks fine with a 64k stream. We host a small number of streams and other 64k AAC+ streams are working fine but this one won't play in any player. Thanks, Ross. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

RDF Metadata Specification
I've put together the first attempt to defining an RDF metadata vocabulary for use with the CD Index/MusicBrainz/OggVorbis. If you care about metadata issues, please take a look at: http://www.cdindex.org/MM I've included a section for video specific stuff, but everything that I originally had in there is being covered by the MM:Contributors section. The Contributors stuff will allow

libshout2, ices0-3 and ices2 on Win32. Announce
Hi Abhijit I can't answer your questions but I would be very interested in a fully working binary of Ices2 for Win32 once it's ready. Thanks for the effort. Embedding Wall Time into Ogg Streams
Hi, Is anyone aware of existing discussion on embedding the actual wall time (as in RFC-822 date-time) into Ogg streams of continuous or semi-continuous recordings? And any methods of addressing Ogg streams by the wall time in lieu of a standard timecode? Ideally, users would be able to take note of the wall time during an event of interest, then retrieve the segment by that same wall time

WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK is not described
An issue was raised at <http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1728923#post1728923> - FLAC uses WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE_CHANNEL_MASK tag to describe non-standard layout, but it isn't mentioned anywhere in FLAC format. Channel assignment is described at <https://xiph.org/flac/format.html#frame_header>: "Where defined, the channel order follows SMPTE/ITU-R recommendations."

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp. Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict. This might actually be by design. I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow. I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete clarification. FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac or aacp. aac is

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I can understand wanting to boost the adoption of Xiph codecs, but I think restricting the directory to vorbis streams only will not help this endeavour. I can imagine it will just piss a lot of people, including myself, and give Xiph a bad name. I get very few listeners of my AAC+ stream now since this occured. The restriction is not an insentive to switch to Ogg Vorbis at all. The incentive

OggEnc to stdout
This is a bit of a worry. I did not receive either of Michael's e-mails, only this one from Smoerk. I had to read the archives to read the reply. Is it just me? I'm having trouble reading stderr, it just doesn't seem to work in Windows for some reason. I'll wait for progress functionality when a decent DLL is available. Cheers, Ross Levis. moerk wrote: >On Thu, 21
