Switch back to mount after fallback
Hello icecast user,
That's my first post to this list, because everything works fine :) But
now I'm missing a feature and I'm not sure if it is possible to realise.
I have two mounts. Only one defined in the configuration:
<mount>
<mount-name>/gast.ogg</mount-name>
<fallback-mount>/offline.ogg</fallback-mount>

Not working. But what is wrong? I've added the second mount to
icecast.xml and tested whether it switch back to the original mount
point. The mount part of icecast.xml:

Web application to feed icecast
Are you wanting it to feed from a database? IF so check out tunez,

Switch back to mount after fallback
Hi,
It's not necessary to have a <mount> section for your fallback mount, unless
you need other mount-specific stuff like different passwords, etc.
Nevertheless, it should work as you desire. Is there anything in your error
log when you reconnect your main stream that might explain why the listeners
aren't being moved?
Geoff.

Switch back to mount after fallback
Hi,
That's what fallback-override is meant to do. Are you saying that it's not
working for you?
Geoff.

suggestion: add mp3 support to ices2
It says here there hasn't been much interest in handling mp3 with ices2:
http://www.icecast.org/files/ices_docs/faq.html
I just wanted to mention that I'm interested in doing so. I use ices
for a web-based jukebox project called Tunez. I have tried the other
suggested icecast streamers and have had major problems with both of
them (muse and liveice). It would be really cool if the

cpanel and ices
Why does cpanel want to remove ices files? How can I prevent this from
occurring?
What I get is /libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libshout.so.3" not
found, required by "ices" after cpanel does it nightly updates.
Also if I do a SIGHUP to ices to update a playlist, do I just need to
issue the command ices SIGHUP? What would be the correct format.
Again, I apologize for

Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
I have successfully set up a system with Ices0.4 and IceCast2.20 (and
Tunez). It plays well using mpg123 or WinAmp.
But I would like to use also my KiSS DVD player for the stream, and I have
not been able to do so - It appearently needs 110% SHOUTcast
compatibility.
So I tried the IceCast2.3.1 - but it still didn't like the KiSS (or the
other way around). In stead, I have added a SHOUTcast

Population pyramids
Hi, I hope somebody can help me with this issue: I am doing population pyramids using the barplot command, so in the left side I have male age structure and in the right side the female age structure. To plot the male age structure I put the data in negative numbers. Now, I want to change the sign in the bar plot in such way that I have no-sign numbers, both in left and right side of the graph. I

measurement unit
Dear R-list,
Could anybody tell me where to find information about changing the measurement
unit from inch to centimeters?
I read the help from X11, I read R-intro and I did some searhing in the R
archives, but I couldn't find the answer.
For example, I would like to produce a plot of a certain width and height:
X11(width=10, height=5)
and I would like these to be centimeters, rather

Icecast relay as a source to another icecast?
I have a situation where I'd like to be able to have icecast reach out to
another icecast server as a client. Is this possible with relaying? From
what I read relaying and master relaying both have the server reach out to
another server.
The reason is this.
I have a hardware encoder (Telos audioactive) sitting on a cablemodem.
I have a remote provider (streamcheap or something) set to

Regressions with fixed-effect in R
Hi there,
Maybe people who know both R and econometrics will be able to answer
my questions.
I want to run panel regressions in R with fixed-effect. I know two
ways to do it.
First, I can include factor(grouping_variable) in my regression equation.
Second, I plan to subtract group mean from my variables and run OLS
panel regression with function lm().
I plan to do it with the second way because

redundant factor levels after subsetting a dataset

variable does not appear in the new dataset.

apply loop - using/providing a data frame to loop over
Hi,
I want to extract individual names from a single string that contains all
names. My problem is not the extraction itself, but the looping over the
extraction start and end points, which I try to realize with apply.
#Say, I have a string with names.
authors=c("Schleyer T, Spallek H, Butler BS, Subramanian S, Weiss D,
Poythress ML, Rattanathikun P, Mueller G")

grep with search terms defined by a variable
Hi, I have a good grasp of grep() and gsub() for finding and extracting
character strings. However, I cannot figure out how to use a search term
that is stored in a variable when the search string is more complex.
#Say I have a string, and want to know whether the last name "Jannings" is
in the string. This is done by
names=c("Emil Jannings")
grep("Emil",names)

I still use this, though on Gentoo, not Debian or Ubuntu. It was removed
from the Gentoo tree years ago, also, but still compiles and runs just
fine if you pull the old e-builds from their CVS. I'm happy to help test
it there.

Precision of summary() when summarizing variables in a data frame
Hi,
I summary() a variable with 409908 numeric observations. The variable is
part of a data.frame. The problem is that the min and max returned by
summary() do not equal the ones returned by min() and max(). Does anybody
know why that is?
