icecast with ices as source
ok, correct me where I'm wrong: - the <sources> tag defines max ices processes can feed icecast - several ices sources are sent to the same icecast process, but on different ports - the icecast process is configured with <relay> <server>127.0.0.1</server> ..... </relay> for each ices instance ? or with mount ? thanks, petre On 29 Sep 2005

ices 'script' playlist information?
Doesn't ices only read the first line returned from the script? --thanks Michael Edwards http://www.walledcity.ca/mars/ >===== Original Message From Karl Heyes <karl at pts.tele2.co.uk> ===== >On Sat, 2003-03-01 at 18:41, Adam Scriven wrote: > >> Is there anywhere I can go to get detailed information on how this works? >> I'm wondering about passing information

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3? I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box, and then encoding it on the fly. Thanks much. KJ

FreeBSD v5.2.1-RELEASE and Ices 2.0.0...
Hi, It didn't take long for me to break it again... I've compiled everything as documented, but when I run ices after a second or so the process coredumps with: May 13 22:14:42 streamer kernel: pid 681 (ices), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) I've got a ices.core file if anyone can analyse it for me, I'm using the FreeBSD OSS 398e. <p>Once again, can anyone point

one ices, 2 streams (high/low bitrate)
Hi, I'm looking into switching from liveice to ices. I like to provide the same stream at two bitrates (56/24), which is simple from liveice. But my initial impression is that you can't do this within ices? Do you need to run two separate instances of ices with different configurations? I'd like to run only one because: 1. only one mp3 decoder runs (saves CPU on my K6-3/450) 2. the

ices 'script' playlist information?
I can heartily garuntee that if your script doesn't return anything ices will whine about only getting newlines and promptly terminate. For you this is desired behaviour. For me it was undesired.. god it took me awhile to work the kinks out of that script... --thanks Michael Edwards http://www.walledcity.ca/ >===== Original Message From Karl Heyes <karl@pts.tele2.co.uk> =====

ices stops connecting to server after 24hours
Hi Karl, I just tried the latest - same problem :( One of the lines in the log file seems interesting - see the (Out of memory) error.. After that appears it seems to never want to connect after that. My box has plenty of memory - ices seems to only use 30 megs of memory and around 29% cpu. Memory leak maybe? (was, streaming both ogg and mp3) now, sending out 3 streams
Hmmm, I guess more is incorrect here than I thought. I changed the resample in-rate to be 44100 like it should have have been. But still no joy. Here is the error message as shown in the error.log file. I'm looking things over and am not seeing my error. It looks like the audio resample for this particular stream is good.
