Is there any some cases we can see ?
Hi,
We just found the tinc, looks like it is really a better VPN solution than
traditional VPN, I am wondering, is there some cases we can refer, like is
there some big cluster running in the production environment ?
Thank you.

Desperate for a decent icecast client for Ubuntu 12.04
Hi I finalement sent a simple sh + darkice.cfg that launch Darkice with
all the parameters .
Actually we understood a bit too late that OSS is not supported on 12.04
anymore and thus we add to give an alsa path to specify the sound card.
I plan on doing a simple web interface for Darkice, hasn't anyone tried
this already ?
thanks

Desperate for a decent icecast client for Ubuntu 12.04
Hi , I tried IDJC last night , but could not figure how to just stream the
line in.
It seems to be a great program but overcomplicated for someone who just
want to send his mic output

Tinc performance on a Dir-300
Hi,
we are using Tinc in our Freifunk Network in Oldenburg for internode
connections over the internet. So Tinc is running on OpenWrt 10.03 on Dlink
Dir-300 Routers.
We all have enough internet bandwith (1,6 MB/sec and more) but we only get a
maximum speed of ~350KB/sec between two tinc nodes because then tinc uses 99%
of the cpu.
Is it possible to get more Speed with tinc on this machines?

elegant way of re-encoding?
hi,
I have a single stream going to my icecast server, encoded in hi-quality
ogg. goal is to serve hi- and low quality ogg and mp3 streams,
re-encoded from the single hi-quality ogg stream.
encoding all from e.g. oddcast simultaniously is not an option.
it would be easier if source-streams would be static and always named
the same .. unfortunately they are not. if so, I could define simple

tinc based deployments..
Do we know the size of biggest deployment(site-site and client-site) which
is tinc based VPN?
Or it is just used in toy projects at schools to learn something about VPN?

Mplayer & Cache fill
Hi,
I just wondered, why mplayer is not able to use its cache properly, when
listening to my icecast streams.
Cache size set to 320 KiB
Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes)
Dead key input on file descriptor 0
Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes)

merge/mix or replace two audio streams
Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to implement the following:
I have 1 media source (IceS or MPD) and 1 Icecast stream (say, LAN radio).
Once in a while I'd like this stream to be interrupted by short announcements (PA system).
Input for these announcements can be from another source (IceS, MPD, Asterisk call). Anyway, to make things simple: I'd have dir1 with ogg music files for

on-disconnect -> streamtranscoderv3 (linux server)
hi,
so far I'm very happy that I have running an icecast server with
streamtranscoder which autimatically transcodes a certein mountpoit
(ogg-high-quality) to low, mid and high mp3 stream on-connect.
but I'm stuck with two problems:
1. how to determine which stramtranscoderv3 process is reencoding this
particular stream? because doing <on-disconnect> just

Forcing a sspecific stream type
Is it possible to force Icecast to stream in a specific stream type,
such as OGG, regardless of the source or input? For example, if a
streaming client connects to an Icecast server with an MP3 format
stream, can Icecast be forced to send it out as OGG or AAC or anything
else? Or does Icecast simply pass the stream through unconverted?

Strategy for penalising IPs with too many simultaneous sessions
Hi all,
I have been trying to investigate traffic shaping in an effort to solve
the "unfriendly network apps" problem on a test network.
I have a basis by which I''d like to shape traffic, but studying the
howto doesn''t uncover and existing qdisc that seems to fit what I would
like to do.
The problem I would like to address is to prevent an IP address opening

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a
button and you're live.
It accepts any Debian

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio
station and need a little advice.
We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and
would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower
bandwidth, etc.)
I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be
a "best practice" but I can't find it.
Our basic
