is there a way to insert 'description' for a relayed stream?
Hi, When icecast2-server is relaying a non-icecast feed, is there any way to add 'description' data to it? This is a minor quibble but I don't see a way around this. As my charts & discussion at Peercast.org's forum shows (pointed to in my earlier posts here), we had to put sc_serv at the 'hub' of the netcast feedpoint, mainly so we'd only encode once but

Strange Zaptel issue
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Greets all sorry for the posting but this one has me confused. I compiled Zaptel and am experiencing something strange. I followed the instructions on README.udevs to the tee, set permissions, etc. and I'm confused as to what gives. Zaptel compiled without a problem but no device was made.... libshout: Streaming MPEG Audio Layer 2
Hi, I'm not anywhere near an expert, but I had successfully used Darkice, TwoLame, and Icast231 to netcast a mp2 stream. If it will help, here is a snip from the related area of my darkice.cfg: [icecast2-1] format = mp2 bitrateMode = cbr bitrate = 384 quality = 1.0 server = 127.0.0.1 port = 32710 password = (duh!) sampleRate =

DAAP maybe? (Re: multichannel streaming)
Hi, Would DAAP help somehow? Digital Audio Access Protocol <http://www.opendaap.org/> I do believe since it's based on iTunes, and one can "scrub" a properly networked file with iTunes, that it's DAAP actually includes this feature. But both ends must be using this protocol. (iTunes by itself can only share playlists with your intra-net shared machines. It is

can't access admin webpages with N-1 listeners active
Hi, Stumbled into a problem with icecast-2.3.1 (a recent daily svn snapshot). We have 6 spec'd in the xml for the (one and only) mountpt's <mount/max-listeners>. The <limit/clients> near the top of the xml is also set to 6 (as seen on the sample xml dists). When we get up to N-1 listeners, we cannot access the admin webpages from localhost or anywhere-else-host. Here's

rsync copies same files over and over
Each time I run rsync it copies the same files even though I haven't made any changes. I doesn't copy all the files each time, just the same ones each time I run the command. I run rsync with the following command: rsync --verbose --stats --recursive user@host::directory directory The local system is Suse linux 9 and the remote system is Windows 2000 server. I have the same results

I looked around and couldn't find a page on firewalling samba. So I did the homework and wrote one: http://travcom.tripod.com/firewalls_and_protocols.html Please send me (directly or CC) any technical suggestions, as I will probably not read the list for very long. Load-balancing with multipath routes (1 NIC + 2 GWs)
Greetings, I''m trying to set up some sort of load-balancing on a Linux (Trustix) gateway by using multipath routes, however I''m stuck with some problems. The idea is that this gateway (odd as it may seem) only has one external interface, which should route packets to two different gateways (Ciscos). The gateway''s external interface and the routers are all on the same

There has not been any mention of this, so.. I'm having hard time trying to figure out whether this is for real or just a joke. (Anyway, I don't use those possibly vulnerable features myself.)
