Theora vs. Nullsoft NSV
How does the Theora project differ from Nullsofts NSV project? I think what they're trying to do here is not only block non-SCDNAS servers, but also as many non-Shoutcast sources as they can. Think about it - if you're streaming MP3Pro without

Icecast 2.2.0 RC1 Announcement
Looks like I missed a config file entry for the shoutcast-compat.xml, you'll need to add : <shoutcast-mount>/stream.nsv</shoutcast-mount> to your config. It needs to exist at the main root level... for context here is where I have it : <directory> <yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout>

Brainstorming Idea: Possibly add an xml api to the current yp logic, that way 3rd party providers could parse the stations in the yp off icecast.org in there media players. of course a plugin for winamp would be the first obvious choice(since the already have there own media library but uses yp.shoutcast.com), but others would follow. I remember seeing something previously at dir.xiph.org but

Ogg doesn't measure up?!
Nullsoft Streaming Video. Basically a video container format. Can be used for files or streaming. Though it can use any audio video formats internally currently it is just VP3/MP3 (or VP5/MP3, but that's internal only and not publicly available). Basically video for the next version of SHOUTcast. http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/ From: "Geoff Shang" <gshang@uq.net.au> > BTW,

Ogg doesn't measure up?!
Sorry for the crosspost but I think it's important. Tom Pepper of Nullsoft, posted this yesterday. "We've considered heavily which direction seems most appropriate for the second generation audio codec of SHOUTcast. Our primary goal in the decision process was to provide smaller consumption of bits while maintaining similar quality and compatibility with existing playback systems.

AAC support?

NSV and VP3
Hi, Quick note: In case anyone has not heard, Nullsoft, the people behind Winamp, have seen fit to develop their own multimedia container format. It can hold any kind of data, but their primary codecs are MP3 for audio and VP3 for video: http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/ I and a few other people are still working out the details of the format:

Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora Streaming Software
Hi, Its been a while since I posted to this list. I have finished an application to stream Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora to file or Icecast server for Windows users. For example, you can stream your webcam/radio station with it. Maybe this will help make more Theora streams available as there seems to be very little Windows support. Some features are as follows: - Connects to DirectShow Input

Accumulating latency in nsv stream
Greetings: We have a problem with accumulating latency in a 1 fps nsv video stream; the delay is about 5 sec. when the stream is first mounted but after about 10 hours it is up to 1/2 hour and after 24 hours it is almost an hour (no frames are dropped, a client viewing the stream just sees video delayed by those amounts). I have commented-out the <burst-on-connect> and <burst-size>
