disable ID3 update
I knew it wasn't ID3, I just didn't know the name for it. This way you
knew what I meant. :)
Thanks for the reply. Then I'll modify my Ogg files.
I have jlGui Java player embedded into my web page, and it keeps
reconnecting every time a song has ended. Unfortunately by reconnecting
it looses the first 1-2 seconds of the songs. According to what you've

Web Based scheduler like LiveSupport for icecast
I've thought about it briefly (I'm in the same boat as you, but I've
been tinkering with making my own interface) and I more or less came to
the conclusion that it was more complicated than it was worth, for me at
least. For my purposes having spoken content recorded beforehand,
uploaded, added to the playlist and played back a couple hours later was
good enough.

Icecast auth over MAC address
Hi All
For a project we'd want to authenticate Listening Clients over their Network
MAC address. Anyone knows whether that's possible or not? We think about a
(flat) file, containing the allowed MAC addresses, the icecast server
checking whether the clients match (=authenticate) or not (=deny).
Thanks,

Re: songs on website
Hi Christian,
Aaron Wolfe has already sent me a script he used for his online radio. I only need to customize it -- and maybe create a Debian package from it. It knows much more than I need (requests, cancels, more stations, etc.), I'll have to cut out some parts.
To answer your questions I use Debian Linux, I'll use ices2 as source, not a media player.
Thanks,
Jacint

Web Based scheduler like LiveSupport for icecast
You might like my project called tunequeue, though it might be overkill or
too much effort to install. It does provide a web interface to ices and
allows fairly complex scheduling. It is perl with a mysql backend.

FLAC and ID3
Hello,
I heard from a coworker that there was something that changed recently
with FLAC and ID3. I don't have ANY details on what that means, and was
wondering what has changed. The only thing I see (in the changelog) is
that plugins have removed support for ID3 tags.
I'm curious because I have been using ID3 tags with FLAC (I store extra
data such as album art with my media files,

dropping id3 support
after spending a lot of time integrating X-Fixer's winamp2
plugin code, I am on the verge of removing id3 v1/v2 support
from the plugins completely. it is really hard to get right
in a way that works intuitively for the user, and i18n is
also a nightmare. in id3v2 every field can have a different
encoding.
FLAC tag a.k.a. Vorbis comment support is very good now so

id3-tags of static files
The protocol of sending of metadata over a stream (which is HTTP) does not
allow for this type of thing. The problem is not necessarily the fact that
the id3 tags are at the end of the files, as id3v2 does not have this
restriction, but rather just the "agreed" upon protocol for handling
metadata for streamed mp3s (and I'm only going to talk about mp3s here,
since it's

ID3-style information
I have a CD collection of about 20 discs that I currently archive on my
hard disk in MP3 format.
No, I do not like lossy compression. No, I do not like closed standards.
No, I do not like software patents (Fraunhofer).
In fact, I do not even need compression at this point, as my hard disk
capacity is greater than the sum total of the CDs' WAV-format sizes.
However, I need its ID3

rpart: ID3 or C4.5?
Hello,
My question is about the algorithm used behind decision tree package rpart.
It is not clear in the help if the algorithm used is ID3 or C4.5. Someone
has any idea?
Regards.
Sandro.

ID3 in ogg 1.0
Hello! I have a suggestion that I want to present before the final release.
One thing I've missed in mp3/ID3 is a field that could tell either in what language is the song/clip performed, or otherwise from what country is the artist.
What do you think of that? It would be a possibility to supercede mp3. :)

ID3 info and Streaming titles
Hi,
I'd really like to enable ID3 tags and streaming titles.
> From reading icecast.conf I realise this is experimental.
I'm assuming experimental means works most of the time :-)
I've set this flag, however receive no ID3 tags or streaming titles.
use_meta_data 1
I need some guidance on this one, im using icecast 1.3.12 and ices
0.2.3.
Thanks,

quick and easy way to convert id3-tagged flac to flac-tagged flac?
So before i knew better, i encoded a lot of my CDs in flac and added
id3 tags (they worked, so great!).
I know i've seen mention of others doing this; anyone gone to the
trouble to write a tag conversion tool? Shouldn't be too tough,
but i'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

OK, that's what I thought, but wanted to be sure. I've been updating
some metadata handling routines in our application and heard something
about this and was curious.

problem with id3 tags
Hi,
I just had a problem that is not described in the faq and it was quite
hard to find the right fix so I wanted to send it here, hoping it will
be added to the faq.
The error message is the same as in:
http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/200210/0073.html
Warning: Hole in data found at approximate offset 5238000
bytes. Corrupted ogg.
In this case it was caused by id3tags added by grip.

Commandline utility to edit ID3 tags?
Hi,
I'm running a webradio on our brandnew CentOS 5.1 database server. (The
main purpose of this radio is fun, sure, but it's also a bit like a
canary in a coalmine...) It's based on Icecast, MPD and NCMPC and works
great. I'm configuring the server remotely via SSH, no X.
Is there any commandline utility to edit ID3 tags?
Cheers,
Niki

quick and easy way to convert id3-tagged flac to flac-tagged flac?
Jud, why would you write this in .NET and limit its portability?
flac runs on Unix and Mac OS X, so if you were to write in C/C++ then
your tool would be available to everyone who can run flac.

metadata for theora (like ID3 tags in .mp3 files)
Hi there,
I had read somewhere that theora also has metadata stuff like
id3 tags does for .mp3 .
If yes, Is there a link where I can read more about the same?
Also are there any end-user tools (GUI-based) which can do this ?
If yes, links of those as well.
Looking forward to hearing more on that.

streaming ogg player embedded in web page
Hi List,
For the last week I have been have playing with icecast 2.0.0 and ices
for a streaming project I am working. The streaming is working with
multiple sources and fallback using XMMS and Winamp as the clients. All
work splendidly.
Next on my todo list is find a simple Ogg player that I can embed in a
webpage and play from the icecast stream.
I have so far looked at jlGui Applet 2.2 which

sppex player
Hi,
You can also use the Java jlGui Music player
(http://www.javazoom.net/jlgui/jlgui.html) with the java implementation
of Speex (http://jspeex.sourceforge.net). This will play Speex streams
and files on any platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, or even
inside a web page.
