running icecast and a webserver on same port
Hi,
You can if your machine is assigned two IP addresses. Then you can bind the
webserver to port 80 on the first IP-adres and bind icecast to port 80 on
the second IP-address.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
KJ

running icecast and a webserver on same port
I'm curious about why you would want to run Icecast on port 80.

running icecast and a webserver on same port
Care to shed some light on this? I have about 10 IPs that are at my
disposal and 3 I've been keeping for spares and whatnot. Though
binding them is a little beyond me.
TIA

You can't run both on the same port, but you can pass the stream through a
a CGI script - from Icecast (running on the normal port 8000 for example)
and on to listeners connecting to the

Re:Icecast with Winamp
I am using only WinAmp 2.x and 5.x
It works in WinAmp2.x and 5.x at the college network (T1 line), but not
at home with cable modem
(even with firewall switched off). It tries to prebuffer over 20 minutes
- 5 second burst of music and then
quits with message (-2:-11). Again, no problem if using FOOBAR2000, but
it would be nice to have it
work in WinAmp.

package: ignores "source"; "provider" doesn''t work as advertised?
Hi
I¹m not sure if I¹m misunderstanding, however, when I try the following:
class thttpd {
package { thttpd:
version => "2.25b-4.2",
source =>
"http://dag.wieers.com/packages/thttpd/thttpd-2.25b-4.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm"
}
[snip other code]
}
On fedora core 5, the ³source² is ignored: yum is used to pull the package
from the upstream repos listed in

Re:Icecast with Winamp
Hi,
I can get ices2/icecast2 to broadcast ogg files in a playlist to FOOBAR
in MS-Windows (and various apps in Linux). When I try to connect in
WinAmp in MS-Windows, I get in error.log:

Robust Search Solution (with CentOS 4.3)
I've got about 10,000 docs I'd like to devise a
search/index for. I found a perl script called
Perlfect that can do that on an old P3 but at the
astronomical time of 7 hours. Another script(cgi/perl)
at hotscripts can do the same but allows the "rm -rf
/" exploit. DoH!?
Is there anything perl/flatfile that can search/index
faster? This is a nice job for an aging P3 in the

svy / weighted regression
Dear list,
I am trying to set up a propensity-weighted regression using the
survey package. Most of my population is sampled with a sampling
probability of one (that is, I have the full population). However, for
a subset of the data I have only a 50% sample of the full population.
In previous work on the data, I analyzed these data using SAS and
STATA. In those packages I used a propensity weight

Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one
might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's
better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a
smaller system).
The types of things being served would include:
- Logo image for sets that support that
- XML directory files
- XML or raw text configuration files

RE: Greetings file played upon mount
I'm using icecast2 and ices2, and was wondering if it is possible to
have a "greetings" file to be played (eg. Station ID) prior to listening
to audio stream from playlist (where-ever position it is playing from)....
I checked conf examples, but didn't see anything that stood out...

suggestion: directory promotion to filesystem
Not sure how technically feasible it is, but something I thought of while shuffling some files around my home server. My poor understanding of ZFS internals is that the entire pool is effectivly a tree structure, with nodes either being data or metadata. Given that, couldnt ZFS just change a directory node to a filesystem with little effort, allowing me do everything ZFS does with filesystems on

RE: Two questions
I am happy using icecast/ices, but have two questions:
1. If I was using cron to schedule a switching of a playlist, can I do
this without restarting icecast so that at a SPECIFIC TIME (let's say at
exactly 3:00 pm) a new song can be played without interupting the user
listening to the broadcast.
2. Is there a setting when the user first connects to play a *welcome*
file (i.e. about the

IP SEC filtering issue
First thing to note is that I am using FreeBSD 4.8 .
We would like to send only the syn packet of a tcp connection through
certain ipsec tunnels and the rest of the packets in a connection though
a simple transport mode setup. Yeah, I know it's strange but what can I
say -- we do a lot of strange things. From the best I can tell, the
setkey/spadd filtering capability isn't sophisticated
