New Forum
How do people feel about eliminating the list serv in favor of the forum?
Or limiting the list serv to news?
I have one vendor I work with that has a knowledgebase, a forum, and two
mailing lists - with much overlap of topics. It is truly enough to drive
you totally crazy.
I'm not suggesting anything. Just bringing it up.

Sizing an Ice Cast Server
Is there some info somewhere about calculating the throughput of an
Icecast server?
(I'm not really talking about the bandwidth)
I need to figure out how much CPU and RAM I need.
I also need to know whether other software on the server (such as mySQL
) will have a problem with Icecast.

I'm curious about why you would want to run Icecast on port 80.

When it comes to sexual turn ons, men and women are very different. It

To load Add-ons
Dear R Help-Team,
If I start R and type in
search()
the result is:
[1] ".GlobalEnv" "package:ctest" "Autoloads" "package:base"
I often need an Add-on-package. I can load it with "> library(package)" or
include a require-command in the .First-function. The .First-function is
fine, if I always use the same working directory. But I

Updated comparison table for SAS-SPSS Add-ons and R Functions
Hi All,
I have substantially expanded the table that compares SAS and SPSS
add-on modules to somewhat equivalent R packages. This new version is
at:
http://r4stats.com/add-on-modules
and I would very much appreciate any feedback you might have on it.
The site http://r4stats.com is the replacement to
http://RforSASandSPSSusers.com and includes the support files for both
"R for SAS and SPSS

ASTCC - Are there some add ons available?
I am trying to get more familiar with ASTCC, but I miss some tools, but
I believe somebody has already thought about it:
1. I would like to send a standard letter to the users, as soon their
balance drops below a certain value. E.g., Dear user, you have only 1.-
left, .... consider to fill up...

Asterisk add-ons upgrade
I have running Asterisk 1.2.5 with addons 1.2.1. on Fedora Core 4. I have installed ooh323 from 1.2.1 addons.
How to upgrade addons to 1.2.2 version and install new ooh323 driver? Do I need to install addons 1.2.2 if I only need new ooh323 driver?
Can I just untar addons, and run "make clean; make; make install" and then execute following
cd asterisk-ooh323c
./configure
make

Proprietary add-ons for Asterisk 1.8
At what stage will there be versions of the G.729 codec, res_cepstal,
skypeforasteric, Vestec, etc that'll work with 1.8? It would be good if
people using that software could participate in the Beta.

cannot use add-ons packages
Hi all
After a trivial install on my Debian system (just gnome-games for my
wife!), my R programs decided not to work, since the 'date' library
wouldn't load. The message I got is:

[Bug 89] New: [PATCH] make the Waiting for forwarded connecti ons to terminate... message more helpful
Shouldn't that acutally pull the value of EscapeChar out of the users
environment (and possibly default to the old message if they don't have one
defined at all)?
Thanks,

memory leak problem using openssh 3.4p1-263 ons Suse (SLES 8)
Hello,
Whenever copying files using ssh (scp) from SLES 8 (openssh 3.4p1-263) to another box (e.g SLES 8, Solaris 8, Windows XP), the memory of the initial SLES 8 box gets depleted. To make sure this is true I use the free command whilst copying and see that the used memory reaches 90 / 100%. After the copying is finished this memory is never released. No memory tool can tell me what happened

Hi all,

A MSc student is available to anwser the call, of course. The idea has already

Retaining regularly used add-ons
Hi everyone,
How might I go about configuring R to keep
add-on packages loaded from session to session?
Is this undesireable for some reason?
At present, I keep a file called "pckgs.txt" in my
working directory with, e.g.,
library(gnlm)
library(Hmisc)
...
and then type source("add-ons.txt") every time I start
a new session. I suspect there's a more elegant way
to hold

To Thomas Fuchs,
First of all, thanks for your amazing scripts on script.aculo.us. You''ve got
quite some talent. I knew I was in for a treat when I read your goals
(mainly about simplicity). My goals exactly. Keep it simple is great when
you''re trying to integrate 100 different things.

Any long-time CentOS users on list using Ubuntu as well?
I've gotten roped into helping a local charity with some
computing/infrastructure snafus. It seems their last good Samaritan
installed Ubuntu all over the place and is "unavailable" now to clean up
the mess. CentOS has made me somewhat lazy because everything just
works out of the box for the most part and you've got the occasional
"yum update". :) These are
