New Web Forum
Interesting. I discussed this off line with a couple of folks and
offered to host a forum. -- But, not to run it. So, this is great that
we know have it and you have stepped up to the plate to run it.
I do have a request / suggestion: I've noticed that many of the boards
for open source software suffer from a couple of problems and it would
be great if the Icecast forum could rise above

No RTFM?
What do you think about adding a "No RTFM" policy to the R mailing
lists? Per, "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM":
The Ubuntu Forums and LinuxQuestions.org, for instance, have instituted
"no RTFM" policies to promote a welcoming atmosphere.[8][9].
RTFM [and] "Go look on google" are two inappropriate responses to a
question. If you don't know the

What's so bad about 5.x? Using it without modern skin support or
ripping/burning is nearly identical to 2.x.

Status of DTrace NFSv3/v4 client providers
We recently had a strange NFS performance anomaly between a V880 running
snv_124 and two NetApp filers. To investigate, a DTrace NFSv4 (and
eventually NFSv3) client provider would been extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, all I could find were a request for code review of a v3
client provider and another request for help developing a v4 provider.
Nothing seems to have come from those initiatives,

If it helps : my soundcard is a ES1988 Allegro-1, the module is "maestro3".
I use kmix as mixer, but there is nothing in it about a

[LLVMdev] Question about MCExpr and subclasses
I have a question about MCExpr and its subclasses defined in MCExpr.h.
I am trying to get Mips' direct object emission working.
Line 283 of MCElfStreamer.cpp reads like this:
00283 case MCExpr::Target: llvm_unreachable("Can't handle target exprs yet!");
Does this mean that if I use a subclass of MCTargetExpr to lower
MachineOperands to MCOperands, it won't work?

Domains, vpn and bowse lists (samba 4.2)
Hi!
I apologize, if the questions are simple, but its been a long time
since I use Windows as enhanced typewriter only. The need to implement
domain etc arose just suddenly.
I am trying to implement VPN (and succeeded to implement it), even
able to join windows clients to the Samba AD domain over VPN, but I am
confused by not getting the browse list of computers for the network I

Class Variable Scope
(Hopefully) a quick question about variable scope issues. In one of my
controllers, I have a class variable:
class TestController < ApplicationController
@@testClassVariable = 0
...
The problem is, in my "list" method I''m trying to increment this
variable by one each time, printing it out, but it seems to reset to 0
every time the list method is called:

Controllers, what? why?
Hi,
I am starting to learn rails and I went through the guide and a couple
of tutorials. Even though I understand controllers or at least I can
use them I can''t see yet the whole picture.
Why do you need several controllers for a single application? If a
controller is just a class whose methods interface with models and
views, why not have a single controller for the whole application?

[ANNOUNCE]: Release of iptables-1.4.3
The netfilter coreteam presents:
iptables version 1.4.3
the iptables release for the 2.6.29 kernel. It has been some time
since the last release and we've had a lot of changes all over the
place. Besides the usual fixes and cleanups, we have:
- numerous documentation updates from Jan Engelhardt and others
- a set of changes to move some of the iptables functionality to

No sound (ices-2.0.0, RH9)
Hello,
I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.0 and Ices 2.0.0 on a Compaq
EvoN600C running Redhat 9. Everything runs quite well (no error loggued by
Icecast or Ices), the Ices stream is seen as a source by Icecast and friends
are able to listen to my radio (I see them as listeners in Icecast admin)...
the problem is that they ear only silence ! Looks like the streaming is OK
but Ices could

connecting to process?
Hello,
sorry if this is a duplicate message -- the R mail-server told me that my
original post was being held for moderator approval. Whatever. I just want
to know if it is possible to connect R to a running process and have
realtime data updates to some plots? Thanks,
