Icecast? what it is? will it work for me?
Thanks mike
let me get more detailed for you all then.
As i understand it - ICECAST - is actually the streaming server itself
but where does it reside?
I am looking to go back to broadcasting from a streaming server on a 24/7
basis.
I was looking through the documentation on the icecast site but
it talks of detials that i did not have to handle and my host company did.
What im looking for is:

Suggestion!
Hey guys,
Keep up the goodwork! I have a suggestion...why not make Ogg Vorbis
streamable through QTSS or Darwin Streaming server. The people at
Apple are willing to incorporate it I'm sure. Would be nice to be able
to stream Ogg Vorbis from with QTSS or Darwin Server!! Lemme know what
you think!
Regards,
Mark

Push relay from nicecast with icecast2?
Greetings,
I have some confusion. I've seen it mentioned, somewhere in some docs,
that Icecast2 does not (as yet) support Push relaying. Is this actually
the case? Should I be looking at icecast1 (which does support push
relay, I believe) until such capability is implemented on icecast2? Or
should I be creating a combination of both? Or what?
Here's my situation:

Logging songs played by Icecast server
Hello all,
I skimmed the last year's worth of messages and all the docs and could find
no reference to this. I'm hoping someone here can assist.
I am a host for an Internet radio station, and we gave about 20 DJs. Each
host determines their own playlist and uses a variety of tools to broadcast
to the Icecast server (e.g. SAM2, SimpleCast, etc.). Since we do not have a
set playlist for

Hi:
Is this an Ogg or MP3 stream? If MP3, do the same streams have the same
format?

Push relay from nicecast with icecast2?
Darrel,
Thanks for the help. I'm presuming then that I've misunderstood what is
meant by "pull" vs. "push".
I understood, I guess erroneously, that the context of 'push' relaying
was from the perspective of the icecast2 receiving a 'pushed' stream. I
believe now that I have this backwards, and that the context is from
the part of icecast2 not being

Nicecast (Mac) to Icecast/Icecast2
Dear group,
I have a problem configuring my NiceCast to work with my IceCast
server. Perhaps one of you can tell me how to solve the described issue
I currently have.
Situation is as follows:
I run two gateways in my private network: (a) 10.10.10.100 and (b)
10.10.10.200. My webserver is running on (c) 10.10.10.30 on which I have
my internet radio station running. Port from and to (c)

alias mount points
Hi,
I am trying to get my head around a problem I have. First let me tell
you my goal.
I want to setup a site where I can allocate 2 hour time slots to anyone
that wants to play there tunes. My idea was to setup a number of mount
point, each with a username and password and dish these out, along with
a allocated time slot to the DJ's that have booked. This can all be done
with a wee bit of

Stats Bug?
I use simplecast as the source into my icecast2 server. It has a built in
stats program but the problem is that If my icecast server has over 2 mount
points the stats stop working and the only way to fix it is to restart the
icecast server. Is there anyway to fix this bug myself?

Local & Relay
Hi all,
I'm new to the list, and I wonder if someone could offer some advice
please or point me to a previous thread about this in the archives?
I work for a Radio station on the Costa Del Sol in Spain, and
currently we're using DarkIce to take an audio feed (over USB) from
our desk into DarkIce and then sending up to a hosted IceCast2 server.
This works perfectly, and I have a cronjob

Icecast2 Station with multiple scheduled DJs?
I have been playing with Icecast only for a couple of days, and I am trying to figure out how to do something.
I want a listener to have to only deal with one stream, but I want to be able to switch the source of that stream between multiple sources (DJs). The core idea is that the listener only deals with /live.mp3 while in the background I can problematically switch between a series of live

Stream File Type?
I'm a newbie.
I've just installed Icecast2 and am streaming to it successfully via Nicecast (great app BTW).
My problem is that the stream from Icecast2 comes through as an .m3u which does not correctly open on any of the Mac or Windows machines that I've tried. When broadcasting directly from Nicecast the file type is a .pls which both iTunes and WMP seem to deal with just fine

schedule a fallback and / 2 sources streaming at 1 server ???
Hi everyone.
I was wondering if it is possible to schedule a fallback. I know there
is the option when no source is streaming then icecast server falls back
to another mount point. So my question is if it is possible to schedule
some sort of fallback to another mount point whenever i want to. Let me
give you an example:
source 1 is streaming to server from 16:00 until 16:59 at mount point 1.

Stats Bug?
Version of Icecast: Newest Post on website 2.01
I do mp3 feeds I have mounts as /live /scanner and /nypd backup
I never thought of trying the other stats screens when it happens but the
author of simplecast says it is a issue he has told icecast authors about
but it doesn't seem to be fixed. I only happens sometimes like right now I
can't reproduce it.
I'm guessing simplecast

Windows Equivalent of Nicecast?
My client has been using Nicecast on a Mac to broadcast to Icecast2 for a while now and it has worked great. Nicecast is a perfect blend of features and ease-of-use for them.
Unfortunately their Mac was stolen last night and they need to start broadcasting from a Windows machine. Can anyone recommend an equivalent, friendly Windows app like Nicecast?
Thanks,
Brett
