Caret train with glmnet give me Error "arguments imply differing number of rows"
Hello, I'm training a set of data with Caret package using an elastic net (glmnet). Most of the time train works ok, but when the data set grows in size I get the following error: Error en { : task 1 failed - "arguments imply differing number of rows: 9, 10" and several warnings like this one: 1: In eval(expr, envir, enclos) : model fit failed for Resample01 My call to train

deconv
I'm translating a matlab routine to R and I need some equivalent to deconv(): Description: deconv() [q,r] = deconv(v,u) deconvolves vector u out of vector v, using long division. The quotient is returned in vector q and the remainder in vector r such that v = conv(u,q)+r . If u and v are vectors of polynomial coefficients, convolving them is equivalent to multiplying the two polynomials, and

memory
Hi, I have a matrix with 700.000 x 10.000 cells with floating point data. I would like to work with the entire table but I have a lot of memory problems. I have read the ?memory I work with Win 2000 with R2.1.0 The only solution that I have applied is: > memory.limit(size=2048) But now my problems are: - I need to work with more than 2 Gb. How I can exceed this limit? - When apply some

using ezstream with stdin
I'm having a hard time not getting mp3 data to ezstream via stdin fast enough. The vb.net application I'm writing, ezstream and icecast are all running on the same machine (Widows XP). Some where in the process, a buffer empties out and that results in a drop out when you are listening. Usually the dropout happens at a song change. At first I was chunking up the data according to bit

Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Hi All, Some time ago I emailed this list and mentioned (as well as a couple of techinical queries) that I was trying to contact the PRS for information on the copyright licencing requirements of a non-profit on-line radio station, a few people expressed interest in this and asked I keep them updated. Well I just sent my third email (transcript below) informing them that I will assume a further

Legal issues for non-profit radio stations.
Of course we all know these groups would certainly not appreciate the audible distrobution of their bread and butter. However, I assume your scope is only within the U.S. , whereas personaly in Canada. Our laws governed a right to freedom of information in regards to online content. More or less, if you find it online it must be public content (unless that's been changed by now, I haven't

determining legal VoIP service
Can anyone recommend who we can consult with that could provide advice on the legality of a proposed VoIP service. Specifically, we would provide VoIP termination in the USA to clients in Spain, Nigeria and Guana. The termination service would connect the VoIP clients to the PSTN through a carrier like MCI, Verizon, etc. The calls placed would connect anywhere in the world via the USA carrier.

"Point Releases" Question
Hello everyone, Let say 5.4 goes out today; If I fully update (today) my 5.2 system...will it be equivalent to 5.4 (all RPM packages with same version/release number?)? Or is it possible for the new point release to include NEW packages that weren't on the base relase (in this case CentOS 5)? Thanks, Jorge

Physical-to-Virtual (VMware) & SELinux
Hello guys, I have a couple of servers that I'm about to virtualize to our VMware Vsphere ecosystem. For Linux servers I read that one needs to use the stand-alone converter (which is a live-cd that you boot from it and then you point it to your destination ESX). I would like to know from folks that have already done so...what was your experience like? Did everything went smooth? Any

Flash 5 on Mandrake 8.0
Hey now- I'm trying to get Flash 5 installed using the default version of Wine that came with my Mandrake 8.0 installation. I am using Wine configured to use a "fake windows" partition, run in Windows 98 mode, and run within an X window. I can get the installer program for Flash 5 to start and being unpacking, but right after the unpacking of the .cab files I get an error

RFC: [LV] any objections in moving isLegalMasked* check from Legal to CostModel? (Cleaning up LoopVectorizationLegality)
All, I'm trying to refactor LoopVectorize such that it has better conformance to VPlan vision going forward (http://www.llvm.org/docs/Proposals/VectorizationPlan.html). All VP*Recipe class definitions are now moved to VPlan.h, and I have a patch under review to move LoopVectorizationPlanner class out of LoopVectorize.cpp (https://reviews.llvm.org/D41420). Next thing I'm working on is

Thanks, Hal. I plan to post a patch w/o HW Legality early bailout first. That should enable further discussion on where the initial very high cost for "illegal masked load/store/gather/scatter" should be coming from --- like should LoopVectorize provide it? Or should it be provided by TTI? I prefer the latter (TTI) but the first revision of the patch will intentionally do the former

Making a smooth transition between sources?
Hello! I'm setting up an icecast radio station. I'll usually be broadcasting from this machine, but want to be able to make a smooth transition to an ezstream instance that I can run on the same server as the radio station. Unfortunately, my experiments haven't found a way I can make a transition without knocking off all my clients. :-( Any idea about best practices on this? --
