Odd icecast hiccup problem with low-bandwidth cellular client
Here's a very odd question - I don't know if anybody can even begin to answer. I am attempting something very odd and geeky. I set up an icecast Win32 server streaming a 96kbps mp3 stream (using all the latest as of today software, winamp, icecast2 and oddcast v3) so I can listen to it on my cell phone while at work. My phone does GPRS EDGE data at 131kbps-ish, just barely fast enough to

Bandwidth & Cost for broadcasting
Hi, I'm CTO for a new Techno/Trance Radio named Let's Go Zik (http://www.letsgozik.com) and i'm looking for the cheapest solution to broadcast. For the moment, we're using Live356 for relaying our stream. It's quite good but a little bit too cheap and not handy (they do not provide multiple bitrate relay, ...). This is why I'm starting a new study. Everyone can help us by

Hiccup on streaming
Ok, tested on LAN: no hiccups, its very fluid stream at 32kbps tested with TuneIn, VLC and MX Player (for android) Also tested from Internet for last two days and noticed no hiccup, so I'm thinking that my ISP is having problems. Is there a minimum/recommended bandwith for ISP connections when streaming? Right now I have 3mbps download and 0.60mbps upload. I know I should have better upload

Hiccup on streaming
Hi all, this is my first time on this list. I have a very basic icecast2 server installed from Ubuntu repository. It's running on a linux Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS with an Athlon 64 X2 5200+. This linux box is at a Community FM Radio Station. We installed a radio automatization software called "Radit". Radit is developed by a spanish guy and runs very well. It's open source and

VOIP to Cellular
Does anyone know of any Cellular providers that will allow VOIP connections to thier cellular phones? I'd love to be able to call a cell phone without using the PSTN. I would think it would make sense for the provider, they still get to charge normal minutes, but don't have to burn a connection to the PSTN.

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report
Hi, there. While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder. First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76 on Windows 98 SE. 1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played. 2. I check the option of

OT: Cellular boosters
We use Motorola v551's as "extensions" on our Asterisk system with a homebrew find me/follow me dialplan. It works great except where coverage is poor then of course the inbound call hits voicemail. This has nothing to do with Asterisk and everything to do with our cellular provider, but since you guys are telephony pros I'd like to ask if anyone has had any good or bad

Internal DNS in 4.1.x having hiccup
We started with 4.1.0, there were few clients and Domain Controler worked fine. We started upgrading at 4.1.2 with: ./configure --enable-debug, make, make install on stoped samba4. We didn't notice any bad things. Curently we are using the 4.1.4, and can't be 100% but we started adding more and more people, but the dns dont respond allways. First it started with not responding anything (we

patch suggested for Solaris 7 cures samba2.0.5a/Sol2.6 hiccup
I installed and configured samba 2.0.5a on a rather unstable Sun box on Thursday/Friday last week to link two NT cd writer machines to a filesystem on the E4000. After a bit of wierdness regarding the usernames the NT machines where offering to Samba, and some creative use of a username.map file I got what they wanted set up. The users were happy and 5 minutes of job satisfaction were achieved. I

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a DB or any other means to see if I can see if a call is coming from a cell phone or not. If I am able to see if it is cellular or not is there any way to see aprox. what area the phone is in (I know this wont be simple but would it work if I have an agreeement with the cell phone companies) ? This is for the US. Thanks. Dovid -------------- next part
