I'm trying to run Icecast as a service under windows using SC.exe and
I think that is the cause of the shutting down. There are parameters
for "start" that aren't explained and not really obvious .... I just
used the default (=demand)... anyone familiar with sc.exe?

correct way to link stream on a web page?
Thanks. I tried changing Hostname to 69.20.57.94 but the same thing
is happening. I have a free IP Address. Is there a way to bid
Icecast2 to an IP Address?

players who cannot handle switching to a fallback mount point?
Hi,
We have setup a test stream using Icecast 2.4.4 and the same icecast
config.
We use a simple HTML5 player for testing:
<audio controls preload="none">
<source src="https://streamdnsname/aac" type="audio/mp4" />
</audio>
See icecast config below. We kick the /aac mountpoint and the html5
player stop playing.
When we listen to a Winamp player

Binding Icecast to an IP address
I noticed in the Docs there is a <bind-address> option but the
example given says it limits to just one listener. Is it possible to
bind to an IP address but with no listener limit? Or am I just being
a dumbkopf....
Would that help my links work?

Maybe he doesn't mean mountpoints in general but "special

ices2 and Icecast2 on debian configuration question
Hi there,
I have a Debian sarge 512 MB RAM machine with icecast2 and ices2 that I
installed via aptitude. I have a 3MBit/s download and 800KBit/s upload
link.
I would like to configure icecast2 and ices2 properly.
Here is my situation:
1)I have a dtdns address omac.darktech.org
2)icecast2 and ices2 on port 8000 would be fine.
3)I simply want to broadcast my 6 year old niece's voice which

icecast2 password bug?
there is quite a bit of confusion regarding this bit....
as of a few weeks ago, new funtionality was added to icecast2 to support
mountpoint-level authentication. This means that you can now configure
icecast2 to have a different encoder username and password for each
mountpoint that you specify in your config file. These options are
optional however, most people probably don't need any

Clustering on the YP
In case anyone is interested, the YP I run now supports clustering of
servers. The clustering is based off "Server Name" + "Listing
IP"....currently, clustering of relays from multiple machines are not
supported (unless they appear to be coming from the same IP)...This means
if you are running multiple mountpoints on the same server, and your server
name is the same for

mp3 streaming with Icecast2 on win32
Hi
Just a quickie -
Is it currently possible to stream both ogg and mp3 from (different
mountpoints on) the same icecast2 server using the win32 binaries?
(oddsock!)
How about other builds?
Thanks
Leo

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
A small update from my side.. i have updated both icecast and libshout to
the nightly snapshot versions of icecast.org. Also, in the configfile i have
raised the threadpool to 500 and all timeouts to 3000.
This did help a bit. Right now i can get it up to 1020 inputstreams, however
then it just stops accepting new connections.
Is there a theoretical maximum to the number of mountpoints icecast

Clustering on the YP
Nice work, yeah.
But wasn't there some plan already in the standard-docs to use
Servername + "cluster password" for listing a cluster of servers?
Well okay, but maybe this requires an addition to icecast2 :-)
<p>Thank you for the good work

Icecast2 Configuration
If you are getting "login with invalid or missing password" it means one of
a few things :
* you have not selected Icecast2 as the server type in the DSP config
* you are not using the most current versions of both icecast2 and oddcast
(http://www.oddsock.org/icecast2 for that)
* you are using the most current oddcast, but have <icylogin>1</icylogin>
in your icecast2

mount points and sourcing from winamp
Hi:
I know it's possible to listen to a stream mounted on a mountpoint using
winamp. I'd like to know if it's possible to make the shoutcast DSP plugin
source a stream on a mountpoint? If so, how do you do it? Does the
version matter? If you can't, will plugins like oddcast do it?
Geoff.

players who cannot handle switching to a fallback mount point?
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the quick response!
We use the same type of encoder (Sam Cast) both live for both
mountpoints on 96 Kb Joint Stereo.
it is difficult to see if it is exactly the same. Is there a player that
show exactly this? I will check this.
We have use the limit-rate in our config. Thats work better for go to
play the last fallback-mount file (i test this).
