Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect
Can anyone explain what the fundamental difference between the
Burst-on-Connect mode that Icecast2 uses versus SHOUTcast?
There is a thread starting on the VLC Player list that is stating that the
problems that VLC has playing Icecast2 Burst-on-Connect (default) streams
is the fault of Icecast2. I don't believe this is true, as Winamp has no
problem with Icecast2 streams. I'm hoping

Disable Burst-on-Connect
I am trying to narrow-down a problem with VLC Player and I would like to
temporarily disable burst-on-connect. I have set this to 0, but it doesn't
seem to disable.

Icecast2 Player Protocol
Mike-
There are some differences in the way the metadata is handled between
SHOUTcast and Icecast2. This, I believe is the primary reason why player
developers get SHOUTcast streams to play but not necessarily Icecast2. VLC
and BetaPlayer are perfect examples of this. I have been doing some
testing with BetaPlayer on a Verizon Wirelss CE device, and unfortunately

Disable Burst-on-Connect
Thanks Karl-
Setting the burst-size to 0 does indeed disable Burst-on-Connect.
FYI: I have verified that disabling Burst-on-Connect allows VLC Player to
play Icecast2 streams.
I am notifying the VLC developers of this, so hopefully they can support
Burst-on-Connect Icecast2 streams. SHOUTcast burst seems to work just
fine, so maybe it won't be such a big problem to fix. Any other

Does this exist?
Thanks.

Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
Hello-
You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server.
I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway.
We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a
streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP,
SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC.

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that
fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here:
http://www.orban.com/plugin
FYI:
This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u.
Also streams can be opened directly by using newly created UIL
redirectors, e.g., icyx:// instead of http:// and rtpx:// instead of
rtsp://. This is all covered

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
Ok, I read the Read Me.
So icyx://boa.mediacast1.com:9292/stream.aac works.
I don't understand why the http syntax cannot be made to work. This
works fine for Ogg Vorbis streams using the Illumination DirectShow
filter.

IceCast 2.2 MP3 stream and Real Player noise
Two other players that I am aware of that have Icecast2 issues have been
VLC and CoreCodec BetaPlayer. I have been in contact with both developer
paths and set up test streams for them in an attempt to get this fixed.
CoreCodec is in the process of making the necessary changes. I do not know
about VLC. I was never able to get confirmation.

IntroFile Feature Request for Icecast2 Server
Would it be possible to add IntroFile support (like SHOUTcast) to Icecast2,
to play an intro file upon connection to a live stream without having to
re-buffer between file and subsequent live stream?
If this is already supported, please excuse the request, and explain the
configuration.
Thanks.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Resco Radio and Icecast
Has anybody tested Resco Radio with Icecast 2.3.1? We have a listener
who can connect to other stations without a problem, but his connections
to Icecast buffer and drop. He's connecting via Cingular wireless, but
as I said, other connections seem to work without a problem.
Any insight would be appreciated.

king fm m3u streams
Hi,
Thanks, that helps. What I really want however, is an MP3 stream that
can play on a WI-FI mp3 player. I know the m3u streams, but they wont
play. I can find the stream for the regular KING HD-1, but not for
opera or evergreen.
