That is why I asked for a protocol :)
Why we have to go the extra mile of parsing the XML, that will contain
plenty of info we don't need !!
Anyway, thank you for the tips.

I don't mind using the password.
Just I am asking if there is some sort of protocol to retrieve the
information without playing with the xsl !!
I mean, to directly retrieve the wanted information, like
ME: Get MetaData
Server: Celin Dion - All comes back to me.

Regardless of the xsl files.
Can't we communicate with the icecast server directly to retrieve the
information ??

Allow me to re-phrase ??
You want your listeners to be able to change what is being played
according to their desires ???
I mean, you offer them the choice in a playlist format, to choose from !!!

Ices 0.x is still developed. So is ices2. They're independent
codebases with substantially different capabilities and users. Yes, in
retrospect naming it ices2 was a poor

Problem with Icecast2/Ices streaming MP3.
Hello everyone,
I am running Icecast 2.0.0 with ices-3.0. I run ices on a machine which
has all the mp3 files I am playing and stream these mp3 to Icecast which
is running on another machine. Every now and then, say 2 hours. Ices
keeps churning out errors saying updating meta data and socket errors
and keeps retrying and after some time it suceeds for one file and then
when playing the next file

libshout, ices, and icecast2 CVS Ebuilds
All -
I've just posted a set of ebuilds (package format for the Gentoo distribution) in my web space. I figure I'm not the only one hacking on icecast that uses Gentoo and these haven't made it into the main Portage tree just yet. To use them, place them in the following locations underneath a Portage overlay directory (i.e. /usr/local/portage):
icecast2-cvs-2.0.ebuild into

Trying to build ices-0.4 on ubuntu and "libshout not?usable"
Hi Ray:
With Ubuntu for the libshout library it will work if you install it using the apt-get command.
Apt-get install libshout-dev
I got ices to work on Ubuntu 14.04 with this.
Hope that helps.
Larry

libshout / ices configure test error, possible solution
I don't know if it's a quirk of my own system (recent Debian unstable)
or a standard, but the libshout test in ices configure fails because
shout.h uses a size_t, which is undefined without any other headers. I
fixed it here by including stdio.h in libshout/include/shout/shout.h,
but further delving shows that stddefs.h is all that should be
needed (at least if every compiler behaves like
