listener authentication for multiple mountpoints; client connections seems high
Two quick questions: 1. Is it ok to use the same password file for multiple mountpoints, or will that cause problems? 2. Why would my clients number 113 larger than my number of listeners? It was right earlier today, but when I restarted the sources it increased by 113, and it has stayed that high since then. I find it especially odd since I have clients set to 100 in icecast.xml, and

yp dir
Hi All, Maybe a strange question, is there any info or maybe even an template for setting up an yp directory! The idea to set one up for local purpuses like: espescially dutch languages would be nice! Maybe an extra setting in the stream clients to also give in the language and maybe even country of orgin of the content could be any help with that, could be a nice extra search option too for

static file streaming
Hi, I have installed the Icecast2 on my Ubuntu Linux and I was not able to figure out how I could stream static mp3 files. Can anybody help me? What should I do to do this? I put the mp3 file in the webroot and I tried to retrieve it with the " http://host:port/try.mp3" URL but I could only download it (as a whole) but not as a streamed media. Do I have to convert the mp3 to another

How to handle NAT ?
Now I have the icecast server working within the confines of my home network (ip: 10.1.1.x), I want to be able to connect to it from the other side of my firewall too. I configured the firewall to pass all port 8000 traffic to my linux server (local address 10.1.1.101) If I connect from the other side of my firewall using my external ip (217.x.x.x), then I see the connection come in on the icecast

Well, know. If they are a cluster then the streamer itself needs to provide e.g. the same password and

Can connect to example1.ogg but not example1.ogg.m3u
I have just finished setting up ices2 => icecast 2 on RH9 linux. Have 10 or so .ogg tracks in a playlist. Also downloaded a full copy of winamp 5. If I point my browser at 10.1.1.101:8000/example1.ogg.m3u then winamp opens, and just says Connecting... - it never actually plays anything. If I use the open URL feature in winamp and give it 10.1.1.101:8000/example1.ogg Then winamp connects to the

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
Hi Rob The stream format has nothing to do with your audio files. I probably have 70% MP3's and 30% Ogg Vorbis files, and 1 or 2 WAV files for jingles on my hard drive. I only encode new CD's to Ogg Vorbis. But my station is streaming in AAC+ format, and I have also streamed in Ogg Vorbis format simultaneously. There is no way I would bother streaming in MP3 format. It's 15+

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I can understand wanting to boost the adoption of Xiph codecs, but I think restricting the directory to vorbis streams only will not help this endeavour. I can imagine it will just piss a lot of people, including myself, and give Xiph a bad name. I get very few listeners of my AAC+ stream now since this occured. The restriction is not an insentive to switch to Ogg Vorbis at all. The incentive
