Run this from command line: curl --user admin:hackme 'http://192.168.0.1:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/live&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_name+Title' That should set you all up, just change IP, Port and MountPoint. -- Cody Tubbs : (Certified Master Linux Administrator) : (Certified Unix Security Specialist) -- Broadway Internet On 1 Oct 2004 at 12:15, Dave St John wrote: >

My bad, try curl -s --user etc etc etc... I suppose that'd help. :] On 13 Oct 2004 at 13:02, Dave St John wrote: > > Here is the error i get now. > > [root@mc1 gork]# curl --useruser:pass > 'http://64.62.252.140:9120/admin/metadata?mount=/live.ogg&mode=updinfo&song=test_name+te > st_Title' > <b>source will not accept URL updates</b> >

Let this be a note for everyonein the future then. When using mp3s i don't think there is a --enable-mp3-updates (I think it worked by default for me), yet if using ogg vorbis you must compile icecast2 with --enable-vorbis-updates in order to update the song/title id3 metadeta (Instructions on how to do so with `curl' are below). If I was using ogg I may have been of more use, yet I

You did not type the exact string I told you to first of all. You forgot to use the 's after before the h in http and at the end. curl --user admin:hackme 'http://192.168.0.1:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/live&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_name+Title' notice the useage of the 's in my string and not in yours. Your string is launching nonsense into the background via the two

Best way downsample stream from 128 to 56 on the server?
Hi! We want to over our stream in better quality (128 or 256) - but we still have listeners using ISDN ... what's the best way to create a 56'er stream from the 128er send to the server? The downsampling has to run on the debian streaming server. Greetings from Germany Philipp

creating live mp3-stream
hi! Currently I'm using icecast1 and darkice to send a live-stream ... now I updateted icecast2 ... but is there a way to create 2 different MP3 streams (with 2 different qualities) using a streaming client? ices2 would be great but it only supports ogg :-( As real radiostation we have to use MP3 because most auf the windows playeres still don't support ogg ... :-(( My boss wants an

a few questions about relaying
Hi there list, I have a few questions here. First of all, can I relay an mp3 shoutcast relay even though I am using ices2 for the ogg format? Secondly, if the first question is a yes how would I set my server to be used for dialup streams. In other words I would have to decrease the bit rate to accomodate the dial up users. Could this be done with out causing any hard ships to what I already

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio station and need a little advice. We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower bandwidth, etc.) I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be a "best practice" but I can't find it. Our basic

live broadcast + WMA
Hi All, I have two questions. I have an icecast2 server installed, and I need to set up a Linux-based computer that sends a church's programs to the icecast server. (Both worship and teaching.) What application do you suggest? It would be really pleasing if I wouldn't need X11 to use the software, and it would display (with charactergraphics) the current signal level. The signal

icecast2, ogg, mp3, etc
Hi, Just wanted to clarify, can icecast2 not read OR broadcast any mp3, or can it just not broadcast mp3 (but still play from a playlist)? I know the quality would be dropped if it had to reencode them though. And what's up with that POS Winamp3, it doesn't even play gg streams?!? I use xmms, but we have winamp3 on a demo computer, it just sits and keeps prebuffering. I need something

make giss.tv as slave
Hi all there. I am trying to set up an icecast2 server (wich is already running) to send some stream mount point to another server. I mean, my server is streaming at /radio1.mp3 mount point. We can listen it at http://myserver:8000/radio1.mp3; so, i want to know if is there any way to "clone" that strem and send it to another server, such as http://giss.tv:8000/radio1.mp3 I have been

Multiple Ogg Streams
Hello I've been playing around with Icecast, Oddcast DSP v2 and streamTranscoder, trying to get multiple streams with different bitrates in ogg format running. The source I am streaming is from Winamp 2.80 Oddcast DSP v2 serving to a linux compilation (got it from CVS just yesterday) of Icecast 2. I also compiled streamTranscoder 1.1 and after much trial got a not really stable second

stream to icecast and shoutcast
Hello, I would need an advice on how to change the setup of my streaming server. The box is an AMD Sempron 2800+ 512MB of RAM, nvidia nforce2 chipset, running on an OpenBSD 3.7. Changing the OS is the last thing I am prepared to do. The system is runing icecast 2.2.0 and Darkice 0.15beta (live streaming). Because POSIX scheduling is not supported in OpenBSD (darkice message on startup) I am

streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
I have been able to successfully stream ogg vorbis as both a playlist and as a live stream off my icecast2 server here using port 8000. Works great. I can also stream MP3 live audio using darkice and icecast2 off the same box using port 8001. But I have been unable to create a situation where I can stream *both" ogg and mp3 off the same machine. I have even created a new icecast directory to

OT: whats your opinion of ODDSOCK streamTranscoder?
What is everyones opinion and expierience with using ODDSOCK streamTranscoder to downsample mp3 streams? I tried it on Windows 2000 and then compared it against shoutCAST DSP plugin. It sucked. It skipped and popped and cut off the first 1/2 second of each track and dropped. It sucked, while shoutCast DSP was flawless. What attracted to me to streamTranscoder was you don't have to run an MP3

darkice question
Hello, Can darkice take it's input from a playlist or must it have a sound card? If the latter i am looking for a streamer that goes with icecast2, can handle both mp3 and ogg, can take input from either a playlist or a sound card, and can do on-the-fly encoding. From what i've read i don't believe ices-02 does this. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dave. --- >8 ---- List

AAC encoders?
Now that Icecast 2.2 supports AAC encoded streams, I'm looking around for an encoder that will take raw-audio->AAC for a live stream on a Linux platform. I glanced at the docs for Darkice and StreamTranscoder as well as some other 3rd-party apps listed on icecast.org but none seem to encode to AAC. Any suggestions? -mp
