Using liveice-xmms with icecast
hi, in an attempt to set up a little stream, i downloaded and installed both icecast2 and liveice-xmms. i can start icecast2, and i can modify the settings to the xmms plugin from within xmms, but i'm at a loss as to how to create a stream, connect it to the server, or then listen to it. i've been looking at the docs on the icecast page[1]. can anyone point me in the right direction?

Frustrated with Ubuntu XMMS, XMMS-Liveice, and icecast
I have XMMS and XMMS-liveice setup to use ALSA to stream audio to my icecast server using LAME encoding. I start the sound file and i can see XMMS playing away happily, icecast detects the connection and shows the source as being connected, but no bandwisth useage. If I connect to the icecast server I get a client connection, but no sound. Scanning other forums there appears that there might

XMMS with liveice-xmms plugin
Am I making the right assumptions.... I run icecast and then only need to run xmms with the plug in enabled to stream to the net.... Or do I need to run LiveIce as well??? When I try running liveice and xmms together xmms locks up. Any ideas? OH MAN THANK YOU!!! I have been pulling my hair trying to get this $hit to work for weeks now. What other DSPs do you recommend instead of LiveIce? Either that or when do you expect the patch to be released? Thank you so much!!! xmms and icecast2
hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. At the moment I am finishing off a project that is more or less a stream management system, kind of like a web jukebox with a time-based scheduling facility and several other 'radio-like' features... I am using xmms-shell to control the replay of ogg files. I also use noxmms to kill the gui of xmms so I can run the application from a remote

Pete - Thanks for the hack, I've gone in an adjusted the necessary lines(Even though my C is REALLY rusty, cut and paste to the rescue), I re-compiled the source, so hopefully things will work once I get home to test. You mentioned that I shouldnt use this for a Public Production server, is there any other security measures I can take to override this exploit? I had planned on running it

Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm sorry, I meant RedHat 7.0 of course. That machine is running kernel 2.2.14-5.0. I've tried the XMMS LiveIce plugin and XMMS cores as soon as it's enabled. Thanks for the info on buffering. I used to use the shoutcast plugin on windows but,

Icecast/LiveIce Problems
I'm having a couple problems trying to get Icecast and LiveIce set up on a Linux 7.0 system. I'm running Icecast 1.3.10 without a config file (using all defaults). I can use shout to stream to it and connect to it from a windows machine running WinAmp. It works OK except winamp stops every few seconds and tells me that it's buffering. It buffers for a few seconds and then plays a

alternatives to liveice and darkice
are there any decent alternatives to live audio streaming [via. soundcard] to darkice or liveice? after a few days fighting with darkice, i finally managed to bring it up only to see that it takes 55% of my cpu just to encode one 128kbps stream using libmp3lame. a similar 128kbps stream only takes up 36% cpu using liveice. maybe i have something configured wrong, but i was sortof expecting darkice

Xmms-Liveice and icecast
I am a little confused with how this setup should be. I have the plugin and I have it all set I think but there isn't good documentation that I can find. Note that liveice-xmms more than likely does not work with icecast 2.0. You can of course opt to use it with icecast 1.3.12, but the developers no longer provide any support for it whatsoever, and many users have also made the move to icecast
