Problems getting Ices2 to work with live input.
I've got icecast2 and ices2 working with a playlist of ogg files and it
works fine. I've been playing for a few days with getting my audio to work
at all. I've now got my audio where I can play an ogg file from ogg123 -d
oss filename.ogg. When I run ices ices-live.xml I get the following error
in my log file:

Icecast 2.2.0 and Ices2: no audio
Folks:
I'm trying to set up a streaming server under Fedora Core 2 using Icecast
2.2.0. Everything compiles; everything runs. There are no indications of a
problem in any of the log files.
When I look at http://192.168.0.128:8000/status.xsl, everything looks ok.
But when I click on "Click to listen", it brings up xmms, but there's no
indication of audio, and xmms shows a bit

dual streaming example
Just wanted to share with everyone a working dual-streaming config
based on Geoff Shang's dual streaming example. With this I am sending
two separate streams; one at 96 KBPS and at 41 KHZ and the other at 33
KBPS and at 22 KHZ. At least, this is what I see when I connect using
XMMS-1.2.7. It works and sounds great. I had a small problem getting the
sample rate just right, but this works VERY

some help
Hello all
I am sending my icecast configuration. What i am trying to
do is 'live stream' so as to be able to broadcast radio
live on my website. I am using icecast as the server and
ices as the streamer. Below is the configuration for
icecast and following it is my configuration for ices. I
cannot seem to find out where i went wrong.

Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but
it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I
see the error but I don't know how to fix it.

Problems with Ices
Karl,
I installed icecast/ices from the latest stable ebuild on gentoo
portage. It appears from the log file that ices is only version 2.0.0
even though the ebuild is version 2.1.0. I just reinstalled icecast with
the newest (unstable) ebuild and it still doesn't seem to have version
2.0.1 of ices. Do you recommend that I manually compile or that I find a
way to use a wrapper for ALSA to

Live Streaming Problem
Me again....
After getting regular playlist streaming working, I'm not trying to
complete the project and implement the live streaming. Unfortunately, due
to the sad, lacking documentation for icecast and ices (especially what
the xml tags in the configuration files actually DO and how they can be
used), I've run into another snag that only you guys can help me out with.
Here it goes.

Okay, I get the picture. Darkice is the way to go. I downloaded it and
installed it and will be testing it using the latest icecast 2.0 beta.
Just give me a few days to get it running and become used to it.

Now, for another question. It's just a config issue really.
I successfully have two streams running, one at high bandwidth or 96
kbps and the other low bandwidth at

Yeah. Ignore the comments, this began as the sample config file and the
comments weren't removed or changed.

Player mysteriously quits...
I posted the other day with a question about a player that mysteriously quits playing the icecast stream. I believe the problem is related to the icecast stream for two reasons. 1) Because it quits on more than one different player (Winamp 5 and Foobar2000) and 2) Because I used to use shoutcast with Winamp 2 and never had this problem. Anyway, I tried to get as much information about the problem

ices2 ans ALSA
Hello,
I'm using ices2 on ALSA 0.9.6 drivers.
After some troubles, it works.

automating icecast2 startups
Hi:
With regard to multiple streams, yes you can use streamtranscoder, but you
can also do it in ices (provide multiple ogg streams, that is). Here's an
excerpt from the config I maintain to show how it's done.

Ices issues
Hi:
I ran a live test broadcast today and noticed a couple of things that
concerned me. Now, I'll admit I was pushing my P2/266 pretty hard, but it
kept things going so I'm guessing that it's not unreasonable for me to
expect this to work.
I was sending two streams encoded from the sound card, one at 22khz mono
quality -1 and the other at 44.1 stereo quality 0. I was also saving

Hmmm, I guess more is incorrect here than I thought. I changed the
resample in-rate to be 44100 like it should have have been.
But still no joy. Here is the error message as shown in the error.log
file. I'm looking things over and am not seeing my error.
It looks like the audio resample for this particular stream is good.

Duh, I had assumed it took the sample rate from the stream directly
before it and was not a standard rate. That's what you get for assuming.
Makes an *ass" of *u* and *me*.
I will fix that now. Thanks.

Virgin Radio now on ices2 - yp not working though
This afternoon I've transferred our Ogg Vorbis Icecast2 streams from darkice
to the ices2 encoder. Apologies if you were trying to listen; I had to stop
and start the streams a few times. They should be stable now as I'm off down
the pub now! As a reminder, the URL for the streams is at
http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html.
Ices2 takes slightly different parameters to

No audio with slackware for live station
Hello,
hmmmm sweet problem. All I can recommend you is have you tried another player?
I've heard that WinAmp3 has certain problems with .ogg streaming.
No other idea :(.
