Firewall issue - Port 80
Hello.
we are trying to setup some rebroadcast of live feeds with IceCast 2 and
darkice server on
dedicated machines. With some customers we have problems to get the the
mp3 stream
through fiorewalls on port 8000.
If I reconfigure the IceCast 2 server on port 80 it cannot create a
listener socket on port 80.
There is definitly no service on port 80 running.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Icecast source config
Hello Geoff,
we have some clients who encode their MP3 streams themselves.
(e.g with DarkIce or SAM2).
So it would be nice to define a password for each client, so we can
control the acces to the entry server. If we provide one password
for all clients it's a kind of hassle to change it.
Thanks

m3u - file definition
Hello
is there any documentation on the .m3u file definition ?
I want to define a .m3u playlist where I have to define the start and
end point of the single mp3 file.
The .m3u files is supposed to handle multiple tracks from one file.
Just with put a tab, start time (seconds), tab, end time (seconds) after
the path to
mark where it starts and ends in the file.

setting the start time and end time of each mp3 file entry in the
.m3u file

Seeking in a static served file
Hello.
Is it possible to configure the Icecast server to seek in
a static served file ?
To use e.g. the slider of Winamp to forward and rewind
inside a static served MP3 file from the Icecast server.
Cheers

(with 2 different qualities) using a streaming client? ices2 would be great but
it only supports ogg :-( As real radiostation we have to use MP3 because most

Darkice/Streamer
Does anyone know if darkice can send the same stream to both an icecast and
a shoutcast sever, without encoding it twice ?
Or any suggestions for another streamer that can?
Thanks,

icecast2.xml or darkice.cfg?
Thanks for the prompt reply Thomas,
Well as an amateur, and newbie, I would not know reading logs does not mean
anything to me as I have no idea what it means when I can actually find
them, this is why I am so confused. Not too sure how to check the logs,
maybe obvious to some, but alas I'm not quite acquainted with the walking
yet.
I have searched for a very long time with issues

osx and icecast
I've got two quick q's about icecast. If these two q's have already
been answered, could someone let me know when so I know where to look
in the archives?
Here's the siutation. Macamp has now gone bunk and I need to broadcast
my dj show from my home to a server that has NullSoft shoutcast. The

RE: Mediacast1 yp dir update
The ice-* headers are the standard protocol for connecting to icecast2, the
trouble is making all source clients adhere to the standard. The option is
to be very militant about it, and basically deny any source clients that do
not connect with the ice-* headers , but we chose the more compatable
route...although there is a limit to this compatability....I would strongly
urge darkice to use

noobie questions
Hello!
I'm extremely new at this so don't hurt me. I want to
stream CD content from my RedHat 9 box using icecast?
What is the best way to do this? I'm getting confused
with all the different pieces and configurations. Is
there a simple guide that discusses what I want to do?
thanks!

How to visualize paired t-test results?
I would like to know if you have any suggestions how to visualize the
results from a paired t-test (see the example data below). I tried to
produce plots that show the mean and CI's from the original data and the
estimate of the difference between means and the confidence intervals (see
below) from the t-test. I really don't know what would be the best way to

problems setting the sample rate with icecast2 and darkice
At present my stream is at 11.025 kHz and I want it to be at 44.1 kHz.
Input is coming from line-in on my sound blaster card under linux (RH 9) using
the sb driver.
I presume that it is icecast that sets the sample rate on the dsp in the card,
though when I change the settings in icecast.xml and darkice.cfg as show below
the stream becomes choppy; or rather the sampling doesn't seem to

Unable to get shoutcast sources to work
Hi:
I have some people who want to be able to broadcast using a shoutcast DSP
plugin with MP3, to an icecast2 server. But we can't get it to work.
Since I can't be bothered booting one of our boxes into windows to try the
shoutcast DSP itself, I decided to use darkice in shoutcast mode. I know
this works with shoutcast servers.
anyway, it connects, but only briefly, and then is

[Re: icecast2 ??]
Dear list,
I agree with the main points that have been stated here lately -- icecast2
appears not ready for prime time (because of lack of web presence / tarball and
rpm downloads / some documentation on line) and icecast1 community needs a
support forum if this list no longer is one.
It would be so simple to spell out the statuses on www.icecast.org -- Status of

Applying dynamic compression to live audio
Hi:
I want to stream audio from my soundcard, but I'd like to apply some
dynamic compression to it first (ala winamp's audiostocker plus shoutmuxer
thingy). I heard rumours of compression in liveice, but Iv'e been told
that this only works when it plays from prerecorded MP3, not the live
input. I'd like to do this with darkice, but can't see how it could be
done. I guess

Encoding on a "dumb" pc
I'm in the process of trying to build a project, and I'm hoping that
someone on the list can help me out.
I have an Icecast server already running, and some feeds coming in from
Simplecast, Edcast, and DarkIce. These encoders are obviously on
computers owned by users who can setup feeds are send them to my Icecast
server remotely.
What I am looking for, is a small PC that is capable
