Linking streaming mp3 on the web
I have a redhat 9 box with darkice installed and a
freeBSD 5.3 box running icecast. Both boxes are up
and running and the mp3 stream is working great. The
only problem i'm having is figuring out a way to link
the mp3 stream on my webpage that will allow users to
easily click on a link and have their media player
open. I can open my media player, go to the open URL
dialog and enter my URL,

Currently I'm using icecast1 and darkice to send a live-stream ... now I
updateted icecast2 ... but is there a way to create 2 different MP3 streams
(with 2 different qualities) using a streaming client? ices2 would be great but
it only supports ogg :-( As real radiostation we have to use MP3 because most
auf the windows playeres still don't support ogg ... :-((

Thanks

streaming live mp3?
Hello,
Is there a chance that either ices0 will get support for live-streaming
from line-in or ices2 for streaming mp3?
I tried darkice, but this didn't work out with a decent sampling rate on
my box (see [1])...
Also tried liveice, but this does not seem to work at all with icecast2
(when changing the port to 8001 I got this simple UI but icecast2 didn't
notice any new mount).
I looked

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
So basically, I download and install ices 0.3, fire it up as well and
then using the currently running icecast server, just set a new
mountpoint. Instead of /ksl.ogg I would make a /ksl.mp3 mountpoint. This
would be configured in the configuration file included with ices 0.3?
I am only doing live streaming, feeding a raw audio feed into the box,
and then encoding it on the fly.
Thanks much.

using the latest icecast and ices to stream both ogg and mp3
darkice is an execellent bit of software, very well written. and the
author of the darkice software, akos, is very active on the darkice ML.

really need help with outgoing calls..PSTN errors
I cant seem to get outgoing calls to be placed properly .. No matter what I try I get an error from the PSTN company saying that the "call can not be completed as dialed" or "you need to dial a one..." The asterisk debugging seems to show the correct number being dialed out of the zap interface... the "9" is being stripped and there is a "1" where it is

Re: transfers/parked calls + polycom 501
This is a dialpaln issue. I solved the same problem recently.
For 4 digit extensions you need to append the dialplan statement in the
sip.cfg configuration file as follows
<digitmap
dialplan.digitmap="[2-9]11|0T|011xxx.T|[0-1][2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|[2
-9]xxxT|1xxxT" dialplan.digitmap.timeOut="3"/>

Frauenhofer signing off on mp3, ogg stream player for Macs?
Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits has stopped providing
licenses for MP3 technology, "[...] noting that more superior audio
formats have rendered the MP3 obsolete. Speaking to National Public
Radio (USA), the Fraunhofer Institute said AAC has since become the 'de
facto standard for music download and videos on mobile phones.' "

streaming ogg and mp3 on the same machine
I have been able to successfully stream ogg vorbis as both a playlist
and as a live stream off my icecast2 server here using port 8000. Works
great.
I can also stream MP3 live audio using darkice and icecast2 off the same
box using port 8001.
But I have been unable to create a situation where I can stream *both"
ogg and mp3 off the same machine. I have even created a new icecast

live streaming
Hi list,
I am wanting to stream audio live to my sound card, have it compressed on the fly and sent to my
icecast server.
I had a look at darkice (http://darkice.sourceforge.net) but I didn't seem to be able to get that to
work, the stream skipped seriously and no config options or different encoder I used managed to get it
sounding normal.
The machine I am using to do the live encoding

It's really pretty simple.
You can download the code and build it all you want... ...for yourself.
It cannot be distributed, sold, or used commercially in any way.
That's all.

WFMU has added an Ogg Vorbis stream
It's 40 kbps/22 kHz stereo. I tried to convince them
to raise the sampling rate to 44.1 kHz, but they're
determined to keep it within reach of urban dialup
modem users.
This aught to increase awareness of Ogg among artists
and record collectors in NYC and beyond who would not
have otherwise heard of Ogg Vorbis. 'FMU has a huge
presence on the web.
