Today's log - yum entries
Hi list, I have the following entries, below, in today's log file (for yesterday, 10th May). I don't run the automated yum-updated and didn't run a yum update yesterday, and no packages were installed. Obviously the entries are old. I was wondering if anyone could offer an explanation? Thanks, Ned --------------------- yum Begin ------------------------ Packages

Questions on setting up icecast
yep, they simply forward the bitstream to icecast. And in general, bitrate changes are handled by most listening clients, although very few I have found (if any) can handle samplerate changes appropriately. oddsock At 10:03 AM 9/14/2004, you wrote: >You mentioned these programs and their "no-reencoding" mode. Questions on setting up icecast
Sorry, gang. The FAQ didn't seem to answer me, nor did Googling... I merely want a simple solution to do the following: I am setting up a streaming server for in-house use. I want it to broadcast the RAW MP3 DATA from my actual MP3 files, as I listen to them in xmms. In other words, I DO NOT want: XMMS ---> decode to wave ---> re-encode to MP3 ---> icecast ---> listeners I

No sound (ices-2.0.0, RH9)
Hello, I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.0 and Ices 2.0.0 on a Compaq EvoN600C running Redhat 9. Everything runs quite well (no error loggued by Icecast or Ices), the Ices stream is seen as a source by Icecast and friends are able to listen to my radio (I see them as listeners in Icecast admin)... the problem is that they ear only silence ! Looks like the streaming is OK but Ices could

xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
that missing symbol appears only in libFLAC 1.2.1 or later, so it sounds like the version dependencies in xmms-flac were not set up to automatically pull in 1.2.1. check the versions of the other flac packages on the machine (not sure what they're called in ubuntu but probably flac or libflac) and make sure they're up to 1.2.1 --- Myke Carter <mykec@mykec.net> wrote: > Hello,

xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
Hello, First post to this group. I've been searching for about a week now to find anyone who can solve this problem or point me to the solution. I've been a happy xmms-flac user for 4 years until this week when some new FLAC security updates came along and completely stopped XMMS from playing FLACs on my PC. This is most irritating as I have over 3,500 CDs ripped and FLAC'd in

Stripping silent periods from MP3s
I'm on Centos 5.5, and would like to use sox to strip out any periods of silence > 5 seconds from a batch mp3 audio files. Googling I found sox, but it does not seem to support mp3 files by default. The man page says: .mp3 MP3 Compressed Audio MP3 audio files come from the MPEG standards for audio and video compression. They are a lossy compression format that achieves

mbox vs maildir
I am a little confused and maybe if I figure this out I will be able to get this to work. I am now able to get my pop3 working but not imap. My inbox is in /var/spool/mail/%u and my mail directory is /home/%u/mail and then all the 'folders' are there which are actually files. Is that maildir or mbox? Which do I have to use for dovecot? Or can I use whichever I choose. I would

Server going crazy!!!
I have dovecot-0.99.11-1FC3.4. I use Pine on the server and Outlook 2003 on remote computers to access IMAP and POP3 to access via my blackberry 7100t. It seems that after using IMAP and then going back to pine it somehow refreshes everything and all the messages are picked up on my blackberry once again as if the emails are new. So everything that is in my inbox is now pushed or grabbed

Messages keep getting resent.
I have IMAP and POP running and when I log in thru pop from my blackberry which is the only way it pulls all the new emails. When I log into my computer and check email via PINE i guess something is refreshed because very soon there after if not immediately all the emails in the INBOX are sent/pulled from my blackberry again. Why is this happening?

Lame update from Dag's repo fails for me, any help?
Trying yum update for the latest announcements. Part of the problem I experienced last week appears again: lame library DSA key is unavailable. I had tried to resolve this last week, to no avail. Tried again this week and found a French site with the key ID, but for libmad. Anyone can give me the proper instructions so this works? TIA Bill Here is a snipped part of the yum log.

Questions on setting up icecast
You mentioned these programs and their "no-reencoding" mode. Can they handle collections of MP3s of different bitrate? What's the difference between bitrate and samplerate? Samplerate is like 44KHz or 48KHz?
