Disconnect listerens after X min
Hi Jappe, a) Please put the script on a webpage, send the link to this mailinglist and maybe somebody will put a link to such a useful feature-addon. Question to Oddsock and other devs: b) Is there already a plugin-mechanism in icecast that could be used to write a small snap-in directly? We talked about such an interface a *long* time ago, but it seems it was forgotten somehow. (Plans were

Disconnect listerens after X min
Hello, I'm using icecast2. I have one client who provides a source from his windows computer using winamp. This source is a 'radio station' I want to disconnect listerners after they have listen to the station for e.g. 60 minutes but can't find any documentation on this. Is this possible with icecast2? If i missed some documentation: sorry but I just can't find the answer

Update ezstream playlist 'on the fly'
Hi, I'm using ezstream to stream a list of mp3 files to my icecast2 server which works great. I'm using a m3u playlist file which ezstream reads when it starts and rereads when it loops. The problem is that this playlist is quite long and I would like to be able to inject a song last minute some where in the playlist. I have two options at the moment to do this: - restart ezstream -

Tracking bandwidth used of individual mountpoints?
Is it possible to somehow meter and log the bandwidth used by individual mountpoints? I'm using mrtg to monitor the whole server, but I'd like to know which mountpoints are creating the most traffic so I can offer better-priced streaming packages to users who really aren't using all that much bandwidth. And also to be able to charge more for users who use way much more bandwidth than

Q: Client connection time limits.
I have a working patch to the icecast 2.0.0 source which implements time limits in the form of a <client-time-limit> element in the server conf file. The time limit is set in seconds, with 0 seconds meaning there is no time limit, and is also the default, obviously. This is a global config directive, ie it effects all clients connected to all mount points. Should I also add a

films on Desktops and roaming profiles
Hi, I'd like to ask you what do you limit Desktops syncing in case users put large files on them, e.g. films. Downloading / uploading such large files can generate lots of unnecessary traffic. Is there any kind of filtering possible ? Other solutions ? Cheers, -- Michal Kurowski perl -e '$_=q#: 13_2: 12/o{>: 8_4) (_4: 6/2^-2; 3;-2^\2: 5/7\_/\7: 12m m::#;

Samba3 + LDAP
Hi- Is there any way to make it so that Samba3 with an LDAP backend doesn't need to create local linux accounts to work? problem with xp profiles and My documents contents
hi all, got a small prblem here Running Samba 2.2.8 with a couple of dell laptops that are used either standalone or connected to a network. Both users are storing lots of pictures on their C drive which are visible through My Documents/My Pictures. The problem is that when they are connected to the network, all these files are stored as part of their profile on the server. When it gets to

User and group ID problems when mounting.
Hi everyone, I'm using Linux kernel 2.4.29 and samba 3.0.10 with Slackware 10.1 distro and I'm having trouble getting the mount.smb to respect my uid and gid options. Whichever uid and gid I specify I get something strange like uid 147926 and gid 101. I heard someplace that this is a bug in the smbfs kernel module but in that case it has appeard after the kernel 2.4.22 since I started

Roots of Samba
Hi all, I have a class of Linux/OpenSource newbies and want to explain the origins of Samba as a typical Open Source project. My interest in Samba has grown, as well as my implementation of Samba. I started with 3 users on one server and now have ~2300 users in 10 buildings using Samba w/LDAP backend in a public school district. Anyway, I can give them my perspective, but I want them to know

Finding the GID of AD groups on samba
Hi Folks: A couple weeks ago, the list helped me develop the way to find the UID of users on my AD system. At the time I did not think that it would be necessary to know the GID of the AD Groups, but I am hitting some snags where I need to change the group ownership of folders etc. I suspect that the necessary command is a variant of the getent command, but man getent has not yielded where I

securing root to administrator mapping
I'm just starting to convert to using samba 3 --. Untill now, my use of samba has been pretty simple. I've not used it as a DC and I've use passthrough auth.. I know some say its ugly (and it can be) but its made my life easier most of the time. Now I'm reading through the samba docs, howto's, etc and I am still very uncomfortable mapping the windows Administrator account to

Display of NAs in character columns of a data frame under fix() or edit().
Example: xxx <- data.frame(x=1:26,y=letters) xxx$x[c(2,4,6,8)] <- NA xxx$y[c(1,3,5,7)] <- NA yyy <- edit(yyy) The missing values in xxx$y appear as blanks in the spreadsheet window that appears, whereas the missing values in the numeric column "x" appear as "NA" (as I would expect). Is this a bug or a feature? cheers, Rolf Turner P.S. >
