If it helps : my soundcard is a ES1988 Allegro-1, the module is "maestro3".
I use kmix as mixer, but there is nothing in it about a

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Well more specifically I want to transcode a realaudio stream into mp3 on
the same machine and on the command line only - reliably!
Following up, I managed to compile the trplayer using a substitute
__pure_virtual function compiled with extern "C" (without it the function
name was being mangled by g++) by now trplayer runs and exits without
warning, error or success... the funny thing

Streaming Supplier
Is there a UK streaming supplier anyone would recommend? If they use
icecast that would be a bonus. At the very least they need to support
x-audiocast login and hopefully vorbis.

Problem with liveice
It's an Icecast 2 server which appears to be running fine (in that I can get
status.xsl up in the browser) and using the latest Liveice tarball from

Icecast server YP Woes... take 2
can you provide a dump of the conversation between your icecast server and
the YP ? Use something like tcpdump or ethereal...In the dump, look for
the URL call to yp-cgi and post what is being sent...
oddsock
<p>What I saw of the output of tcpdump didn't show any mention of the yp url.
The communications seem to run only between the client and the server and
nowhere else. This is the

Issues with win32-service Daemon
Hi all,
I wrote a little echo client to run as a service. I have a couple of
problems with this. First, any time I try to define anything in
"initialize", the service fails to start. Any idea why?
Also, this service runs for a while, then just quits for no reason that I
can see. The Event Log merely says, "The Abba service terminated
unexpectedly".
Any ideas on

No sound (ices-2.0.0, RH9)
Hello,
I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.0 and Ices 2.0.0 on a Compaq
EvoN600C running Redhat 9. Everything runs quite well (no error loggued by
Icecast or Ices), the Ices stream is seen as a source by Icecast and friends
are able to listen to my radio (I see them as listeners in Icecast admin)...
the problem is that they ear only silence ! Looks like the streaming is OK
but Ices could

Winamp security hole
Hello, some of you might consider this to be OT but I think it's
important enough to warrant telling people.
" A "highly critical" hole in one of the most-used pieces of software
in the world means that audio files will be music to hackers' ears.
The ubiquitous WinAmp program - used to play a huge range of media
files - can provide someone with system access

New Wiki Page
Hey guys,
I just added a new wiki page that lists all the widgets and classes in the
wxWidgets toolkit. It shows which of the widgets we have available in the
current binding of wxRuby, 0.2.1. I''m pretty sure that I got everything,
although I haven''t tested it out exhaustively, its just a first start. You
can see it at

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello.
I've made some progress on the issue. I found a tool called TrPlayer which
is a text mode front end for real player - initially developed for the use
of the visually impaired. The theory is that I can use this and pipe the
live stream into vsound which then in turn is passed into ices or another
source client. Trouble is, I'm having all sorts of trouble compiling
Trplayer on the

Problem connecting to icecast2
Well I think that I see where the problem is.. That is exactly right.
[root@wyatt icecast]# ices -c /home/icecast/ices.conf
Unknown Node: Server
Unknown Execution keyword: Base_Directory
<p>I dont think that ices is actually using the settings in the Server section of
the config file. That would explain why the passwords are different.
<p>So I guess that I will try to set it up

tricky include question
I''ve been here before and maybe I''m trying to do something that is not
possible. I am trying to include tables that are associated to other
tables in the actual include statement but not to the original table
call. In this case the furnii table.
this is my original query
@furnii_from_furnii = Furni.find :all, :include =>[:raider, {:imageasset
=> :skin}], :conditions =>

New Web Forum
Dear List members,
After some consideration and chats with several members on IRC, I have
proposed running a web forum for icecast, an idea which seems to have
been received well by everyone so far.
The forum can be found at http://forum.icecast.org/
Questions & Answers welcome :-)
