Icecast [Bad Password]
I used an underscore ( _ ) and a couple of upper case characters for the
passwords but after taking them out it didn't change the situation.
<p><p>I had originally hardcoded the hostname address as '10.0.0.5' (where both
Icecast and Ices is running), and when set up like this, the client would
hang.
I have since changed it so that the hostname is now

Ice 0.3 cannot connect to Icecast2
Try setting <Hostname> to "localhost"...the current hostname may not be
resolving properly.

Problem connecting to icecast2
Just had a quick mess with my Ices0.3 and if the <hostname> is set to
127.0.0.1 I get "Socket error"...when set to 'localhost' it works fine.
Could be a problem there.

.ogg extentions
I may be considered old fashioned in the way i see things but i do not
understand why the .ogg format should be mass introduced! I've only just
heard of it and it does seem odd. I got a .ogg file but i cannot find any
software to play it! Windows media doesnt like it and when i used the web to
find a application that runs it using windows, nothing was found so, since

Icecast [Bad Password]
I assume your referencing the protocol used, of which I have it set to
"xaudiocast"
<p>When using "xaudiocast" protocol the Ices client will attempt to connect,
receive a Socket error message and it then appears to hang (maybe waiting to
timeout?).
When using "http" as the protocol the Ices client attempts a connection,

HTB Web server lag
Hi
I am runnning redhat 9 (2.4.20-8) I am using HTB (Sorry dont know
version) and am also running a web server on the same machine. When I pass
alot of traffic through the box it slows down the box ability to contact
devices on the lan and also devices trying to contact the web server on that
same box, even though i have SFQ as leaf off the deafult. For example the
NFS mounts onto the

ICECAST STOPS AND THROWS OUT ALL STREAMS
Hi !
I am new to the list.
I have been using icecast togeahter with ices and live streamers for almost
a year now.
We have between 10 to 300 listeners, localsite and outside world.
It has not been troublefree, icecast was stable util a week ago, just
crashed and refused to work anymore. We upgraded in hope to get rid of
problems.
It worked for maby 24 hours and then it just stops by random after

icecast error bad password
Hi
I often have troubles connecting to icecast from ices. Both are on the
same machine. Sometime, especially when the machine has just been
rebooted, when ices trying to stream to icecast, it is often denied for
BAD PASSWORD.
The curious thing is, both the ices and icecast config file were not
even changed, and the password is match. I don't use any encryption I
believe. Is this a known

Hi. I have found a very interesting problem with the above setup. Icecast
starts up fine, but when I try to connect with iceS I get no response.
I've straced iceS and the last word comes from icecast, but waiting for
more. Icecast mentions nothing during this process, but show a quick

a few ices/icecast questions
hiya. i'm using ices 0.2.2 with icecast 1.3.10 and otto 1.0
(a web/db playlist mgmt tool). overall, i'm very pleased
with the setup, but i'm having a few problems.
1) whenever otto plays a track (by exec'ing ices), that same
track keeps playing over and over. i have to direct otto to
kill the track (and the ices process) in order to get it to
play the next track.
i notice this

Ices -> Icecast Authentication Failure
Hello, list --
Sorry for the dumb post about confirmation -- I've always wanted to run
majordomo so I could see how this stuff works. Whoops! I guess replying
to the email really isn't the thing to do -- even though it explicitly
states it as an option...
My problem, outside of list etiquette, is this: having compiled all the
latest, installed, etc., ... having read all I can find

Hi,
got a little problem with the current cvs version of ices. I'm invoking it

which seems to connect ok, get past password validation, and gives
me the following:

Icecast is cool, but how about video?
Hi people,
The last days I was hacking on my linux box. I must say it is a

myself!!!
I got icecast and ices working (check out http://213.84.15.154:8000, but I
don't really offer broadband) Some day I'll getliveice working but for now
you there's only a small collection of mp3's, I'll different

streaming to dialup users gives low quality audio
Hello,
I've got two streams, one for broadband, one for dialup. Well, having
had occation to use a dialup connection recently i checked the dialup
stream. Although it was streaming what the broadband stream was, the audio
quality was audibly worse. It didn't buffer, but it didn't sound as clear as
the broadband stream. I used lame to encode the tracks to mp3 and used it's
