icecast + liveice won't play nicely
Kerry. I would like to get a copy of this document which you speak of. I have had generic trouble in getting livice properly installed and think that would do the trick... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerry Cox" <kerry.cox@ksl.com> To: <icecast@xiph.org> Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 10:22 AM Subject: Re: [icecast] icecast + liveice won't play nicely

Icecast, Liveice... experiences?
Hello. We have been using LiveIce to serve mp3 streams for 10 months or so. So far, IceCast has been pretty reliable. Well, until LiveIce is introduced into the picture. We originally tried LiveIce running on FreeBSD. It ran for a while, but we suffered wierd problems: disconnects, skips and such. We are streaming from a radio receiver -- at 28800 compatible bitrates. So we switched to the

Propping up liveice
I'm a volunteer who runs the mp3 streaming for KGNU-FM in Boulder, Colorado. We stream live at 64K with Linux, icecast 1.3.12+ minor patches, liveice, and lame 3.92. It easily supports 32 internet listeners 24x7 from a donated 400MHz Pentium II. Liveice is the only problem--it does its job of connecting the soundcard rec in to the lame encoder and to icecast, but dies without

alternatives to liveice and darkice
are there any decent alternatives to live audio streaming [via. soundcard] to darkice or liveice? after a few days fighting with darkice, i finally managed to bring it up only to see that it takes 55% of my cpu just to encode one 128kbps stream using libmp3lame. a similar 128kbps stream only takes up 36% cpu using liveice. maybe i have something configured wrong, but i was sortof expecting darkice

Liveice+Darkice?
Hello, Could the experienced people help me? 1:) Is it possible to start liveice in the background like icecast and shout?? 2:) If I insert another sound card to PC(it will have 2 or more sound cards). Is it enough to specify "SOUND_DEVICE" option to /dev/dspX in liveice.cfg and start another liveice session with that configuration file??? 3:) With many efforts I fail to start darkice

Funky password mount point error for liveice and ic ecast - PLZ HL P!
OH MAN THANK YOU!!! I have been pulling my hair trying to get this $hit to work for weeks now. What other DSPs do you recommend instead of LiveIce? Either that or when do you expect the patch to be released? Thank you so much!!! darkice problems (was Re: Propping up liveice)
I tried darkice 0.9 with icecast 1.3.12 and lame 3.91. I specified a 64k stream and similar options to what works for us with liveice. Streaming worked successfully, and I applaud darkice for being fairly simple to build and configure. But the stream sounded like mud. It was worse than our 16k mono RealAudio stream. I re-examined my config, I rebuilt everything with gcc 2.96, then with

multiple liveice sources
Hi, I am trying to stream two different sources with two soundcards using liveice and icecast, all from single Linux box. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I tried creating two sets in the liveice config file where I specified different devices. No erros but the latter source was streamed on both mount points. Running two instances of liveice talking to one instance of icecast failed.

icecast+liveice in normal user fail
Liveice writes temp files to a hidden directory called .liveice_temp_files that's created the first time liveice is run. If it's run by root the first time, other users won't have write priveleges to it. As root chown that dir to the user or group you want to run it under. -bg --- Bill Goldsmith www.radioparadise.com www.kpig.com > I would like to use icecast and liveice as my
