Another relay question...
I currently have 3 mountpoints, 128, 56 and 24. I'm using darkice as the source and I'm relaying to another server running icecast2. I'm assuming that darkice is using lame for transcoding the bit-rates on the fly and sending 128k/s + 56k/s + 24k/s to the relay host... which is using a lot of bandwidth on the source network (which I don't have much to spare). Is there any

Unofficial Icecast HOWTO posted
It should. I just tried it out my own instructions after letting them go a few days. I didn't want them fresh in my mind. I simply copied the configs and played dumb (not too hard). I then started up my playlist server and am listening to it right now. I tested out the streaming stuff a few days ago with good results. Hope it works out as well for you all. Find anything wrong, let me know and

Setting Up A Master-Slave Relay Problem
i can say more .. but what i've done is have ices/icecast run on the studio machine . i've got scripts to handle the start/stop of the show , and this then also triggers a single stream relayed to the main network . and this could be further altered to run a transcode session on the main server ( to create a lower quality ogg or mp3, etc ) (check out http://theDV8network.com , tho i

Ices-0.3 and ogg
Hello, Is it possible to stream into ogg from ices-0.3 ? I'm running a radio with icecast2 and ices-0.3 in mp3, and i use streamTranscoder for the ogg stream. But i'd like to do everything with ices. Is it possible ? TIA Stephane. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message

fallback source give up and returns to original source
I forgot to mention that the patched version seams to work fine, except that one of the listener (curl | oggdec | ices) don't like the source content change. I have to search for that. IceS output to alsa sound card
Hi Guys, I'd reflect Vieri's question actually, because there must be a way of doing it? Maybe not with ICES, but maybe combines with JackIT? The reason for my interest is I work in a radio station in Spain, and because of the geographics where I am we have to relay around a lot. If there is a way of sending an incoming feed into ICES, and sending it out in various directions, would

New CURL version dependency
I just checked IceCast out from CVS in an attempt to compile it again (I went through the whole build cycle just a couple of months ago), and I came across this error when I was building it:
source='yp.c' object='yp.o' libtool=no \ depfile='.deps/yp.Po' tmpdepfile='.deps/yp.TPo' \ depmode=gcc3 /bin/sh ../depcomp \ gcc -DPACKAGE_NAME=\"\"

Relaying question
Hello, I'm fairly new to icecast2, so forgive me if there is an obvious answer to this question. I am using a master server and a relay server. What I would like to to do is have the master server send a live stream encoded as 128 bit mp3 to the relay server, and then have the relay server broadcast that stream as well as a 64 nit mp3 stream. Is this possible? Can Ices, Darkice, or

Transcoding ogg with curl, oggdec, ices2: problem after fallback due to oggdec
Hello, oggdec is a very simple ogg decoder, and it fails in the following case: a source A has a fallback A' transcoder curl | oggdec | ices2 is transcoding to lower bitrates ogg A fails, all the listeners are transfered to A' oggdec fails because the stream content changed: [2004-01-29 18:44:47] OggDec 1.0.1 [2004-01-29 18:44:47] Warning: hole in data

[2004-01-29

announcement
After far too long under development and testing, this is to announce the release Ices 2.0.0. What is it? Ices is a source client for Icecast v2 streaming server. It takes audio from a stated input and (re)encodes the audio for streaming to icecast for listeners to pick up.
What's in this release? * stream Ogg Vorbis to one or more Icecast servers * allow for resampling, dowmixing

a few questions about relaying
Hi there list, I have a few questions here. First of all, can I relay an mp3 shoutcast relay even though I am using ices2 for the ogg format? Secondly, if the first question is a yes how would I set my server to be used for dialup streams. In other words I would have to decrease the bit rate to accomodate the dial up users. Could this be done with out causing any hard ships to what I already

Icecast Newbie Questions
Nice! Im running linux... So ices for the backup streams and resampled to a lower bps.... Now I just need to figure out how to limit the bps of the live source... Maybe using 2 icecast and streamtranscoder right? Ice 1 (private ice) -> transcoder -> ice 2 (public ice) How does that sound? -----Original Message----- From: icecast-bounces@xiph.org [mailto:icecast-bounces@xiph.org] On

stream to icecast and shoutcast
Hello, I would need an advice on how to change the setup of my streaming server. The box is an AMD Sempron 2800+ 512MB of RAM, nvidia nforce2 chipset, running on an OpenBSD 3.7. Changing the OS is the last thing I am prepared to do. The system is runing icecast 2.2.0 and Darkice 0.15beta (live streaming). Because POSIX scheduling is not supported in OpenBSD (darkice message on startup) I am
