icecast & HUP
I have this strange problem where when I try to reload my config by
sending a HUP to the icecast process it produces this in the error.log

Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start or run as a service?
Is there any way to run Icecast2 Win32 at Windows startup and at least
one of the following: minimized, in the system tray, or as an NT/2000
service? I looked through the docs but couldn't find anything.
Thanks,
Ethan

Autocomplete for phrases
Hi all.
We are trying to use Xapian to index the titles of around ten million
documents (music catalogue) and then do auto-complete style search on
this index. After poking around we can't quite get the combination of
QueryParser flags and search query that will give back the results we
want. The closest we have can take a very long time (because it is
searching for, and building a list of,

Off-site cloud backup (eg Amazon S3, Wasabi)
I?d like to synchronise our mail store to an Amazon S3 bucket or similar, for protection from ransomware.
Server is running on macOS with maildir.
Should I use a Dovecot process, rsync, a Mac app like Arq or Jungle Disk, or something else?
Anyone have experience or opinions on this?
Thanks,
James.

The objective is, the mailserver will be easy to setup, maintained and have some

When I attempt to take natural logarithm of the series, as you guess
there is an error message. To overcome this problem, my idea is to
replace a zero or zeros in a row with appropriate numbers.
In order to implement it, I need to detect where zeros are.
Then I am going to take the average of two adjacent neighbors. In the

Limiting bandwidth usage - where to begin
Hi,
I am very new in this list..
I want each of my internet users to be limited in
his/her usage of bandwidth. The limitation will be
done in my squid (linux) box, as they all have to be
authenticated by squid before going to the internet
jungle..
Then anybody here could tell me where to begin to do
such thing ?
Any idea/solution would be very appreciated
TIA

Voicemailmain automatic extension detection?
Is there a way I can have "voice mail check" calls coming from my internal
users automatically get to the right extension, without having the user
enter their extension?
I'm thinking that I could have the local SPA boxes translate, or have
each user live in a context where the extension in question exists
uniquely per user, but both of these seem kludgey.
Thanks in advance for

Wiki/revision control to management of CRAN package repository
I propose the following humbly, with little know how as to how to implement, and realize it may have been proposed many times. It is just something I had on my mind.
Would it be possible/desirable to have the whole CRAN package repository accessible through a public wiki, forge or version control interface (ideally a fusion of the wiki and forge approach)?
It appears it would be a first for a

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report
Hi, there.
While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems
I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder.
First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76
on Windows 98 SE.
1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended
in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played.

SIGHUP to icecast running in chroot mode
Hi.
It seems like if icecast receiving SIGHUP while
running in chroot mode, it fails to open config file.
I run icecast chrooted in /home/icecast:

Creating grid graphics with grid.layout
Hi,
I recently created a function which uses grid with a viewport
constructed with grid.layout() to position four plots on a plot device.
My question is what's the best way to programatically traverse each
element of the viewport?
The grid is 5x5 and the four plots occupy positions (2,2), (4,2), (2,4),
and (4,4).
Here's the viewport code:

[newbie] separating plot output from debug output
I'm attempting to refactor an R script that does a lot of plotting,
among other things. Ideally I'd like to do something like
setup # does pdf(...)
for each part of input {
plot(process(part))
}
cleanup # does dev.off()
but have problems:
1 I'm plotting to PDF, so everytime I dev.off() creates a new file,
and I want everything in one file (as does my boss :-)
